Senator Cynthia Lummis uit Wyoming heeft in juli 2024 wetgeving geïntroduceerd om een “strategische Bitcoin-reserve” op te richten.

Dit voorstel houdt in dat het Amerikaanse ministerie van Financiën en de Federal Reserve vijf procent van de wereldwijde Bitcoin-voorraad zouden aanschaffen en aanhouden.

Er wordt momenteel gespeculeerd dat dit de aankondiging omtrent de oprichting van een Strategische Bitcoin Reserve van de Verenigde Staten zou kunnen zijn.
