What an incredible group of orgs, doing really thought-through, skilled relational work in communities - such a privilege to be a part of. Celebrating the impact of the Transforming Mental Health Grants, as part of Community Mental Health Transformation.
We know mental health is often treated as the poor relation of physical health. The purpose of the MHIS was to begin redressing this inequity. Scrapping this standard risks deepening inequities even further and taking desperately needed funding from mental health. @GOVUK
The Mental Health Investment Standard is a policy the previous UK government put in place to make sure mental health services get a certain share of NHS funding when it’s allocated at a local level. It’s the only part of mental health funding that’s actually ring-fenced.
Right now, many people with mental health problems who want to work aren’t getting the support they need.
They're often pushed into low-quality, low-paid work before they're ready. This can worsen their mental health, so these announcements are a positive step.
But we think the reforms need to go further… 2/8
