@JohnCarrier42 Couple things come to mind:
"A man who wants to lead the orchestra has to first turn his back to the crowd."
"Man in the arena."
It's easy to sit on the sideline and be a naysayer, much harder to invest, commit, and put something on the line. Keep building up young men, coach.
If you think AAU ball is bad for the game. Have a college coach fly out to see you play against “Horribleville” high. I’m sure they can get a great evaluation on your kid while the score is 90-12. AAU not only helps with exposure, it exposes them to places, they may never see.
Players: Don’t be the player who’s “too good” or “too cool” to work on your game before or after practice. That’s when you should be working on your game. If you’re not, you can bet someone else is. You won’t have to worry about it on game day. Those who work will pass you by.
When a college coach is looking at you they’re looking at.
* IQ
* How well you move without the ball.
* How you act when getting subbed.
* How you act while on the bench etc.
They look at the small things. Believe it or not scoring is LAST on the list. Shooting yes, Scoring no!
One of these guys had 14 tackles last night & the other guy moved to 2nd all time in career sacks in school history...this picture was taken an hour after everybody left for the night, almost two hours after the clock hit zero. It’s the little things...
150 of 150 of these kids just decided to transfer??? That’s not what is really happening out there. Kids are recruited heavy and if they average 3ppg or less, they’re usually encouraged to “decide to transfer”. That’s the much bigger problem. Look at the 150 left ppg in 18-19
@EricPMusselman What the facts don't say is if a player dedicates to the goals, and embraces the process of the 1%, 1.2%, or .0091% the life skills learned through the journey are extremely valuable. Telling them "no chance" results in missing out on the life lessons - 100% of the time.
2nd prospect to checkout at the Comets Expo is 6'3 2020 G @JamesSommer3 of Cristo Rey Jesuit HS @CoachClayCRJ and played AAU for @MentalityHoops

Everybody wants to add a Gym Rat to their team.
High School Coaches have such a thankless job. Spending hours and hours emailing, texting and calling college coaches for their players.
I sure hope the high school kids appreciate the work a lot of their coaches are doing. It’s not easy getting college coaches on campus.
Excited to see the DCTC progress after the hire of Peter Olafeso. Coach Olefeso just signed speedy quick PG Monti Booth who last played at PSA in 2018-19
Derrick White walked on at a Division 2 school in college.
Last night he had 36 points in an NBA Playoff game.
You can get caught up in what the scouting services say, who is or isn’t recruiting you, or you can get better.
If you’re good, basketball will eventually find you.
@CoachClayCRJ @JamesSommer3 is a guy that college coaches should recruit. Plays multiple positions. Works his ass off. Team player! You want him on your team. Simple.
