Rubbish is piling high in Birmingham. Rats are everywhere. Refuse collectors are on an all-out strike. This is a major story involving a Labour run council yet there are no calls for the UK Labour Govt to intervene. BBC reporters aren't pursuing Labour ministers.
If this was a major Scottish city the story would be dominating the national news. The Scottish Govt would be attacked for not intervening. BBC reporters would be chasing after the John Swinney at Holyrood.
There is strong circumstantial evidence of manipulation at BBC Scotland to manufacture news that presents Scottish institutions in as negative a light as possible and thus the SNP as failing.
The same people are appearing again and again. Political links are being concealed. The FOI process is being abused. Sensationalist tabloid language is adopted.
Inexperienced career-minded young presenters and reporters are reading and acting out what appear to be politically motivated scripts. Public cash is being misused. It's the biggest scandal in Scotland but nobody wants to acknowledge it.
"It’s Main Stream Media Jim, But Not As We Knew It"
A very long read, but guaranteed to annoy the fvck out of BBC Scotland. They deserve it. Enjoy and repost.
You have to search in the long thick Main Stream Media grass nowadays to find any good news about Scotland. Almost every medium, tv, newsprint, social media is rammed with articles and comments about how rubbish Scotland is. Well, I make no apology for doing my bit to help change that perception by boldly going where few are prepared to go (see what I did there).
Which brings me, oddly, to Orkney.
I had an interesting exchange with a BBC Scotland Assistant News Editor recently which I’d like to share . He mentioned he was recruiting for new broadcast Journalist roles and presently writing a job description. I suggested that he might ensure he includes 'Impartiality' to the job description, adding cheekily that it’s something BBC Scotland fails at, particularly their political correspondents. I received a fairly typical corporate response implying that they took training for impartiality very seriously, and at that point I had to overcome a spine-chilling desire to insert my fingers down my throat. At least the response was better than nothing which was normally, we don’t give a Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo what you think, we are the untouchable BBC complaints dept.
So I thought about this carefully, long and hard for about 5 seconds and decided I’d create a handy cut-out-and-keep list of things that up and coming candidates might want to consider before risking their entire life savings, good-will and thin veneer of credibility before applying for such a demeaning, sorry, demanding career-limiting, erm, career.
So, for the purposes of this article, I’ve lumped all our so-called ‘Scottish’ media into one and called it ‘ABC Scotland Media’ for convenience.
Since ABC will no doubt claim to be open and transparent, you might want to ask them to explain why they are blatantly on a mission to bring down insult, denigrate, rubbish, denounce any Scotland-good stories? You could ask who on their executive board demands they churn out/promote toxic messaging and anti-Scottish propaganda? You could ask, is J.K. Rowling secretly on their board as chief antagonist? Let’s face it, J.K.’s skills are ideal. I can see the job spec now; “Candidates must be capable of writing bizarre far-fetched nonsensical completely ludicrous fiction, but still believe they are untouchable from reality and accountability”. Is that on the job spec for being a ABC Scotland journo? You could ask why would I want to join an organisation who blatantly hates the country I want to work and live in and bring up my family. To love, laugh and live in a country with good prospects, food, clean water, good living standards, education, health, even though ABC literally spends 24/7 insulting and bringing down Scotland's key workers; Public Sector, NHS, Rail, Social Services, transportation, FERRIES FERRIES FERRIES. Oh my GOD. RATS… rats in every City, and we are not talking about the Tory and Labour councillors (don’t mention that or you will be shown the door).
Cancelled ferry due to weather? Folks. You are going to be on Orkney; an island with lots more islands off a big frigging island with occasional horrendous weather and logistical challenges. You are going to have to put your life on hold for your lords and masters in Glasgow’s colonial quay for 40 hours a week just to cover a fact-of-life-bit-of-wind-and-lot -of -waves inconvenience, and have to tell your little darlings and long suffering partner (or god knows what you call him/her/it if you’re a JKR following imbecile) “... it’s for the best darlings. Daddy or Mummy will be like Glenn Campbell or Kaye Adams one day and we will be admired and revered by our colonial masters in a far-off city called Glasgow”.
Here’s a morality test, and think carefully as you might have a mother-in-law who decides if you feature favourably on her last will and testament or not. We can see that the monarchy (no capital letter is intentional btw) are trying not-so-subtly to reintroduce Prince Andrew back into public life. Hypothetical scenario; your Editor gets wind Andy is due to visit your town and wants you to cover it. Do you a) plead with him/her to get someone else to do it b) cover the story avoiding using words like, oh I don’t know, £13million, mummy helped, no sweat, Pizza Express Woking, young girls or c) cover the story, no holds barred risking all. You might want to ask The Earl Of Inverness for instance just how popular he thinks he actually IS in Inverness. And just to make it interesting, you do what Fiona Bruce does on every BBC Question time. Let’s set up a hand-picked group of ‘plants’; a group of mums and dads grannies and grandads with early teen daughters in tow and do live street interviews asking them what they think of Prince Handy Andy. That ought to be interesting.
Either way, if you genuinely have any respect for ethics and morals, how will you sleep? What will your family think in 5,10,15 years time when you tell them you worked, or rather obeyed your masters at ABC Scotland and your job was to denounce all the good things Scotland tried to do with a meagre pittance from the English government. “I’m so sorry we landed with a Labour government my darlings, but I thought it was for the best. My bosses TOLD me it was for the best. Pesky EU and SNP. How was I to know”.
How much respect do you think your family will grudgingly give you? How will you feel knowing that every ‘report’ you create with futile, nonsensical flourishments carefully crafted to appease your dictators will be brutally and forensically inspected for any hint of bias or lack of truth then rebutted almost instantly by hoards of internet savvy hawks like me with far too much time on their wizened hands typing furiously with two arthritic fingers and a burning desire to ensure that their 40+ years of real life experience and knowledge ensures that some young whippersnapper doesn’t take advantage of good respectable people who just want the information they need to live a decent, happy peaceful, comfortable, safe life, free from spin deceit, fear, worry or concern.
If you are willing to take the risk and join a toxic deceitful organisation like ABC mis-Reporting Scotland so be it. If you are prepared to rise above the very low bar set by almost all of all the political journos and actually live by the impartiality standards well documented by the press orgs, then I sincerely wish you all the best in your career, following in the footsteps of the greats like Brian Taylor but obviously not old whippersnappers like Glen Campbell, Martin Geissler, James Cook, Kaye Adams, Laura Maxwell, Andrew Kerr, Gary Robertson, David Wallace Lockhart obviously, who many regard as spiteful, nasty people - so I’m told, at least, that’s what I heard from reliable sources. That’s the way it works, right?
Live Long and Prosper.
In Scotland all it takes for the BBC to platform Unionists and confront the Scottish Govt is for a health body to issue a press statement about stats. In England the BBC shows no political interest when NHS trusts are found guilty of causing the deaths of babies.
Show this to your family and friends. This was Anas Sarwar's 'Subway' moment. Back in 2011 then Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray was confronted by a protestor in Glasgow Central Station and tried to escape by running into a Subway Sandwich shop. He never recovered.
Here's Nigel Farage, posing for pictures with a group of far right activists known for sharing extreme and racist posts

Child poverty rates are predicted to increase everywhere in the UK by 2029, apart from Scotland, according to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
The charity are calling for the government to scrap the two-child benefit limit to help.
If doctors or nurses deliberately lied to patients or knowingly gave them false information, they can be reported to the GMC or NMC. Politicians seem able to lie & mislead with impunity. Pensions in the UK are a wholly reserved matter.
Ian Murray blamed the Tories and the SNP for robbing Waspi women of their compensation.
Yes, according to Murray, the Scottish Govt should have compensated the Waspi women despite the fact pensions is a reserved issue.
Meanwhile the BBC refuses to challenge him on the issue.
