Some days, I like to take a closer look at the books on the shelf. Today'svmuch-read favorite: @MerHallBooks Meredith Hall's memoir "Without a Map." (2007). Heart-breaking, anger-making—set in pre-Roe NH. Are the bad old days really back? Dunno.
But this? Is a beautiful book.

Late to this gorgeous novel by @MerHallBooks which came out mid-pandemic. Even so, I’m shocked it was passed over by @nytimesbooks. Blurbs from @danijshapiro and Richard Ford! Her memoir next on my list.
Join me in conversation with @Jenna_Blum and @mrstevenrowley on a panel titled Writing About Grief. Sunday, 2:30 ET. Hosted by this year's virtual Newburyport Literary Festival. You can register here: https://t.co/XpvXUcs2oH
Just finished Beneficence in time to join @MerHallBooks for the Facebook live discussion hosted by the San Diego Writers Festival. I did have to wipe away the tears. What an achingly beautiful book about imperfect people coping with unimaginable grief.
Still and always unpacking the eternal book boxes, and discovering so many "already read it, determined to read it again because it's great" books. Today's find: @MerHallBooks Meredith Hall's deceptively quiet memoir, Without a Map. Highly recommend.
