@OrevaZSN I know there are some vegans who wouldn’t eat honey even if it came from an ethical caretaker. That’s illogical. But many would be ok with animal byproducts from their own hives/sheep/etc. Vegans are generally right that the modern marketplace abuses all living things.

@OrevaZSN It’s because *mass production* of any animal product has big problems. Like for honey, you have A LOT of human intervention in the life cycle. It leads to unhealthy hives, the bees aren’t allowed to choose their queen, they are weakened and prone to mites, etc.

Europe is emotionally stuck in the Little Ice Age. They aren’t adapting.

@simeydotme @nosilverv You’re correct. People did use generators, and make fires and adapt to be able to survive without electricity (and therefore running water) for a week in 2021. That’s why so few died in Texas. But still necessary to improve the grid.

@simeydotme @nosilverv The point: Weather extremes are much more serious in other places. People understand AC is a necessity to minimize death. Texas mobilized to react to changing weather much more proactively than Europe (universal AC, upgrades to grid after a low death incident).

Weather is way more extreme elsewhere. So, Europe looks lazy in adapting.

Orange and blue are on opposite sides of the color wheel, but you can still find shades of blue and orange that are the same “value” and therefore are “low contrast”.
