The final episode of SISTER, SISTER (1994–1999) bringing things back to the moment Tia and Tamera first met is such a simple choice, yet it hits so hard. Six seasons later, the show ends by reminding you of the exact moment everything began.
@TheTennisLetter she ate with acknowledging how there are always all white dinner parties and no one blinks twice to acknowledge the innate exclusion of that … yet it’s immediately and issue for white people when there’s no caucus representation
She comes from an era with Disney required their stars to know how to sing, dance, act and everything in between. That’s why the Disney stars of her era are successful to this day. Star power was a must when it came to the girls!
Whenever Issa tells stories about how Insecure came to be, I am always so impressed with how she (at the time not a household name) pushed back at the studio and major names. And that ultimately became the reason for the shows success. It’s authenticity.
One of these people is me 👩🏽🦱back when we had Black TV shows on air
I used to opine that all the Black comedy shows were segregated on one night,
but now there’s no nights & that sucks more 🫠
Wishing all the moms out there a wonderful Mother’s Day!
To @MichelleObama, I’m grateful for all the ways you’ve shown up for our daughters and our family over the years. We love you.
fascinating how quickly he goes from realizing he can’t provoke his desired response from her (to humiliate her), to immediately jumping to sexual harassment (to, again, humiliate her.)
genuinely world record pace fragile masculinity speedrun: hack comic edition.
Ciara gets cheated on by Future, she’s blamed. Along comes Russell Wilson, a man who loves and respects her now he’s a “simp” and she’s “undeserving.” Cardi B gets cheated on for years by Offset, it’s jokes. She moves on, now she’s the problem. Megan Thee Stallion gets hurt repeatedly, she’s mocked. The men are celebrated. Now that Klay has hurt her, men somehow love him after he was just every goofy in the book when he “appeared” to be loving her properly. The list seriously goes on. A man cheats, people excuse it. A woman stays, she’s weak. A woman leaves, she’s the problem. A woman finds better, now she’s “undeserving” and the Man treating her right is a clown, goofy, simp. When Men speak up for women they’re labeled “pick me’s” or worse
This says to me that a lot of men are comfortable when a woman is disrespected but bothered when she’s valued. Why Tho? Who hurt y’all?
Things done out of love for the wrong person can never be something you shame the doer for.
She loved through words and actions, some of you are dead inside and can never understand what that is,
