We’re officially 4,000 founders strong—the largest network of education founders in the country! If you’re one of them, proudly give this a repost. 💥
The VELA Founder Network is growing—and with it, the movement for family-centered education. Thousands of families are looking for something different and VELA founders aren’t waiting for change—they’re creating it. 💪
Here’s to the BOLD founders rewriting the rules—and reimagining what education can be!
Microschools are the red pill of education. You step inside, see kids learning in a way that you never thought possible...and you realize this is what learning should have always been like. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.
Prepping for the microschool year looks much different than the public school year. Instead of looking for the state to give us what they think kids want, I get to ask the parents directly. We are in this as a partnership. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
@brent_waggoner Product of public school, senior son in public school, taught in public schools for 10 years—I am happy for your experience thus far, but be careful with where bitterness is directed. Some kids turn out alright, but others are wrecked. Count your blessings.
So much of mainstream education dialog focuses on teaching...in microschools, the conversation focuses on learning, in effect, shifting the spotlight from the instructor to the student.
Microschools are incredibly unique in giving the learner direct agency over and ownership of their education journey. #FromTeachingToLearning
An excerpt from Mercedes Grant, a former public schoolteacher and mom, on why she left the public school system to launch an independent school this fall:
Never let your children's joy and wonder fade away.
Mixed-age classrooms are magic.
Younger kids are inspired by watching older kids.
Older kids anchor their knowledge by teaching younger kids.
This is one of the biggest things the institutional education system is sleeping on.
@GrumpyCompSci@tetheredtoed1 So instead of managing behavior, you created a prison-like environment? Sounds like a horrible loss for them, win for you. At what cost?
In this episode on Educator Forever, CEO @AmarKumarEdu shares how #KaiPodCatalyst can be a great opportunity for educators who are looking to move beyond the traditional classroom but still keep the connection with kids at the forefront. ✨✨

If the world is heavy right now... build.
If you're heartbroken... build.
If you're angry... build.
The only answer to destruction is to build so big you erase the hate of the world.
