I don't understand this argument.

Argentina don't get to choose who they play. If the so called giants fail to qualify or get knocked out before facing Argentina, how is that Argentina's fault?

Italy have missed three consecutive World Cups. Brazil have only gone past the quarter finals once since 2002. Spain have struggled to make deep World Cup runs since winning in 2010.

So if those teams are no longer around when Argentina are still in the tournament, what exactly are Argentina supposed to do? Wait for them?

Football is about beating whoever is in front of you. Before you can play a giant, the giant has to survive the competition first.
