I think that schlock rock is valid as a form of music in due to the success and popularity it achieved. It is a part of music history. However that does not make it any less of a race issue, as it’ was deemed for the audiences that were believed to be superior #POPMUSS21

@BrianWa13654477 The convenience of streaming has definitely made our lives easier and also continue to unfold our identity. Just think about the playful judgements we hold towards others based on what streaming services they use, and the “elitism” within that 😂 #POPMUSS21

With access to so many different kinds of music via streaming, it’s refreshing how one can find music that reflects facets of personal identities (gender/sexual identity) in ways they never could before being exposed to more personal ( & new!) choices than generic #POPMUSS21

@BrianWa13654477 I agree with you that the composition of music shouldn’t be judged! Many musical artists are capable of creating many different rhythms and melodies that consist of a varying degree of difficulty. There’s a reason why (most) artists have the popularity that they do.

I don’t think that music is dumbed down, as saying this makes it seem as if artists aren’t making music to express themselves or doubts their talent. Some music may be simplified for the sake of generic popularity, but there’s nothing wrong with this if it’s enjoyed!
