@W_Asherah@uber_kenya Yes, it was saying something to the effect that Kenyan visa cards not acceptable. Luckily I had a colleague who helped me the first few days and then I had to download Didi, a local car hailing app in Aussie.
Kenyaโs political system remains heavily influenced by money, making it difficult for ordinary citizens especially youth and women to compete fairly. While young people and women are increasingly politically aware and active, financial barriers continue to limit their transition from participation to leadership.

Mercy Mwangi, KEWOPA Executive Director, speaks on why representation must go beyond presence to real influence.
โRepresentation matters. When women are at the decision-making table, the agenda shifts towards health, nutrition, protection, and economic support. Yet women remain underrepresented, and that is why we must keep pushing for policies and reforms that guarantee equal participation.

Applications are now open for the FemTech Academy on Digital Rights, under the Legal Vanguard programme by @Vanguardequal
The Legal Vanguard is our dedicated arm advancing gender justice through law, policy reform, and rights-based advocacy. This Academy is a direct intervention at the intersection of digital rights, artificial intelligence, and feminist legal analysis.
Digital technologies increasingly determine access to opportunity, safety, and visibility. Yet 73% of women globally report experiencing online violence, and AI systems continue to reproduce racial and gender bias, with documented error disparities as high as 34% for darker-skinned women compared to less than 1% for lighter-skinned men.
At the same time, misogynistic ecosystems, including incel and redpill networks, continue to expand across digital platforms, shaping harmful narratives and normalizing online abuse.
The academy will cover but not limited to:
โข Platform governance and content moderation
โข Algorithmic bias and feminist AI governance
โข Data protection through an intersectional legal lens
โข Strategic advocacy and litigation tools
โข Feminist care, burnout prevention, and healing justice
This opportunity is open to women and gender-diverse persons working or interested in law, technology, policy, activism, media, research, and creative practice.
๐ Applicants must be based in Nairobi and its environs and able to commit to the full programme.
๐ Application deadline: March 13th
๐ Apply via this link: https://t.co/MXsoSbWbOs
If digital systems are shaping our futures, feminist actors must shape digital systems.

Ghana released the passport of Russian man accused of filming African women without consent: Vladislav Luilkov, 36.
Authorities say theyโre working with Interpol to extradite him back to Ghana to face charges if he ever leaves Russia
This Ash Wednesday at about 3 pm Westlands turned out to be a horror movie.
About 50 Boda Boda riding in pairs carrying 2 passengers each rode through Chiromo road, Rapta Road and Ring Road heading to Kileleshwa.
They dropped passengers to rob and then ride.
They were snatching handbags, phones, stealing from jua Kali stores along the way including mahindi choma guys.
It was a live horror show!
Matatu, Jua Kali and market guys organized themselves quickly and started stoning them. So stones were flying in all direction.
Some were arrested by citizens and stoned, probably to death, one right outside Westlands Square/Ola Gas
How can such criminality be organized soooo successfully in a country with security agencies?
As all this unraveled, there was a traffic cop controlling traffic at the Westlands roundabout... Unbothered!
The thugs eventually rode through Riverside, Kileleshwa and Kilimani robing people along the way.
A friend has seen them at Dennis Pritt Rd...
