Universal Health Coverage (UHC) staff have vowed to continue pressing for their rights despite a violent police crackdown during a peaceful protest in Nairobi on Tuesday.

The healthcare workers, supported by the Kenya National Union of Medical Laboratory Officers (KNUMLO), say they will not be intimidated or silenced by the excessive force used against them, including the firing of rubber bullets and teargas that left several injured, one of whom remains hospitalized with a broken leg.

KNUMLO, through Secretary General Pius Moriasi, has condemned the police brutality as a blatant violation of constitutional freedoms and a betrayal of frontline health workers.
