“In the end what will hurt the most is not the words of our enemies, but the silence from our friends.”(MLK) Retired teacher, grandma- detest Murdoch control.
@3AWNeilMitchell This same argument-“they talk like real people” is the same one that elected Trump. You are referencing a poll but the analysis is totally yours. What ‘real people’ are you talking about? The racist ones? The drunk ones? Hanson and Joyce promote hate that’s a true analysis.
@Blue77Rick@SandyXiaotong Amazingly -despite the media bias from most newspapers and media outlets, the Labor government were voted back in- with 94 seats. The media have covered the Ballarat protests quite thoroughly- you need to stop letting lies get in the way of facts.
@Dazzaat “Stand out intellect, inspiring and with vision. Has the ability to connect with voters.” Didn’t he lose his seat? Obviously he didn’t have the connection! Also, isn’t it a bit concerning that the Liberals can only suggest former failed politicians to lead their party?
@RalphyHeraldSun@FOXFOOTY I can’t believe this! All the focus on BS and trying to set up excuses for him. Both teams have had a five day break. Anyone else that smashed a ball into another player’s face would have been suspended. If he wants all the headlines then he’s going to cop criticism as well.
Explained here @batman2242
Maybe try asking why would anyone vote Liberal?
I’ll start- no policies( we’ll tell you after the election)
-Nuclear fantasy- where was all the water needed going to come from
- continual denial of climate change.
- constant backflips
@hohumvon@juliemonry I don’t think you watch them very often if you think they’re left leaning! 🤦♀️ Chandler Mathers used to challenge Albo in Parliament so I think he’ll be happy he’s gone.
@hohumvon@juliemonry That may apply to younger people but the conservative older voters rely on the Herald Sun, Channels 7, 9 and 10. The Libs are losing their base as this cohort ages.
@3AWNeilMitchell @TheNikiSavva Labor had a positive plan for the future with costings. Libs released their costings 2 days before the election! Nuclear is not popular or viable. Sacking public servants to hire contractors at a higher cost. Aligning to Trump ideologies and flip flopping on policies-no brainer.
@juliemonry Second best economy in the world. Dutton did not put out his costings until 2 days before the election. Unemployment down, inflation down and interest rates cut soon. Libs did not offer a viable alternative- also nuclear not popular.
Just watching a program on Binge. Every ad break is an ad from the Liberals promoting their anti Albo propaganda. Apparently this is allowed despite the blackout laws. Streaming services do not need to follow these laws. This should not be allowed. 😡
@Piazza_VIC@PeterDutton_MP How pathetic! If you have to resort to making fun of our PM to get votes- give up now! You certainly don’t have any costed policies that are worthwhile listening to.
@its_misterio @SimonEarleLabor Apparently nuclear also needs billions of litres of water for it to operate. Aren’t we one of the driest countries in the world.
Exactly! I’m so sick of hearing so-called former Labor voters saying they will never vote Labor again. Our government has denounced the war many times. Hamas and Israel take no notice of anyone- let alone Australia! As always in any war the innocent suffer.
I’m just going to say this..
I believe in a democracy where everybody gets to have an opinion - without beating the fck out of each other verbally and physically in online arenas and in public spaces- and without the parrots of “free speech” perpetuating the myth that free speech ALSO includes a strategy of lies and disinformation at the behest and for the benefit of certain vested interests that don’t give a fck about democracy - because for them - it’s all about power, control and authoritarianism.
I believe good government also needs differing players like Independents and Teals to voice a variety of opinions without malice and deliberate skulduggery.
What I find unconscionable is being constantly abused, trolled, threatened and stalked because of what I believe in.
I believe in the Labor Party and what they are doing. I believe there is always room for improvement - but that right now they are doing their best amongst a constant cacophony of malodorous bullshyte that is echoed 24/7 by a malicious media who support what amounts to be an authoritarian opposition leader - a bully and a thug with a duplicitous past history of systemic corruption.
if you don't support the Labor party - that's fine. that's a democracy …
… but if you want more of the same corruption and punishment of the 9 years of coalition government on steroids - go ahead and keep on harping on about how bad Labor are.
.. but don't include me in it. Don't attack me and don't whine when you get a bit more of what you are asking for. A different government that will likely be the death of democracy, this planet and everything else that comes with it.
Block me, don't follow me. Take your divisive shyte elsewhere.
Just in case the numpties missed it..
Facts:
-Nuclear power is NOT renewable. Its power comes from uranium - which is a finite resource.
-Nuclear power plants use a lot of water. Nuclear power plants must be located near large bodies of water.
-Australia is an arid country. Water resources are limited.
-Sea water is not compatible with nuclear reactors.
-Nuclear reactors are unbelievably expensive to build. Even more so in a country starting from scratch.
-Nuclear power plants would rely heavily on government subsidies, as it is unlikely that private investors will cough up the capital.
-Storage of nuclear waste. Currently Australia does not have a central facility for the storage of radioactive waste. Currently Australia produces low-level waste (nuclear medicines). Lucas Heights is currently storing waste at its own facility until a national facility is completed.
-Where would Australia store nuclear waste from 6 or 7 reactors and who would want it in their backyard?
-Radioactive waste can remain dangerous to human health for thousands of years.
-Nuclear power plants are sitting ducks for terrorist threats.
-Nuclear energy can be up to six times more expensive than renewables.
-Nuclear reactors supply as little as 11% of the world’s energy. There are not enough uranium resources and there is not enough time to make any difference as opposed to the timeline of damage that fossil fuels are causing for the planet.
-Renewables supply around 30% of the world’s energy - and rising.
-Considering the increasing impact of climate change, rapid transition is paramount. Nuclear energy in this country is at minimum 14 years away. Renewables and renewable development are happening NOW.
-Then there is Chernobyl and Fukushima.
@3AWNeilMitchell@Brittox62 So you agree that it’s more about cost, lack of water and that renewables are already available! Then say that! It’s also true that we don’t want nuclear anywhere near our kids and grandkids! If a simple message highlights that then good! All it takes is one accident doesn’t it?
This is spot on! Labor is nowhere near Liberals who have unwavering support for the rich, continue to have politicians like Barnaby disgrace Parliament, love privatisation and protect rapists!
@z_rose@BeattieNgiare@RonniSalt A satisfying image, but such lazy thinking. Labor is far from perfect, but I can’t see any robodebt, any anti worker policies, any nuclear policy, and so on.
It’s possible to value the Teals & Greens & Labor at the same. Shortfalls in Labor do not make them the LNP.
