Virginia Ilene Hestekind, 86, of Circle Pines, has been charged with three felony counts in connection to allegedly embezzling nearly $59,000 from the Circle Pines Lexington Lions Club, while she was the former club treasurer.

Charges detail that unauthorized cash withdrawals took place from the Lions Club accounts between July 1, 2018, and June 30, 2025, via use of the club's debit card.

The theft "essentially drained" the club's finances, leaving them unable to pay their recurring $100/month storage fee.

Law enforcement obtained bank records, which showed a pattern of frequent cash withdrawals, utilizing the debit card in Defendant's possession. Many of the cash withdrawals were performed at the bank, but others were done at locations with available gambling and/or pull-tab sales, including Grand Casino - Hinckley, the American Legion in Lino Lakes, the Shortstop Bar & Grill in Coon Rapids, and Carbone's in Circle Pines. Law enforcement spoke with staff at Carbone's Pizzeria Bar & Grill who reported that Defendant came in once a week over the past four years to play pull tabs and would typically spend $100- $200 on pull tabs each visit.

Club rules required that there be a co-signatory from a different household on the checking accounts but the current treasurer learned that Hestekind's son, M.D.H., who resided with her, was serving as the co-signatory.

Hestekind denied that her son, M.D.H., ever used the debit card. She claimed that she took cash out in order to purchase items for club fundraising events, or to make a direct cash charitable donation to a needy student. Hestekind stated that she did not keep receipts for these cash gifts.

Hestekind has been charged by summons and is not in custody.

Nicole Virzi, a San Diego PhD PSYCHOLOGY student, age 31, flew to Pennsylvania to meet her friend’s 6 week old twin boys.

While she was changing the diaper of one baby, she pinched his penis and scratched his buttocks and scrotum causing him to bleed. She told his parents he was bleeding so they rushed him to hospital, leaving her to tend to the other baby while they did so.

While they were at hospital, left alone with the second twin, she “shook him a couple times – hard. And I dropped him a couple times – hard” resulting in his death. She confessed to everything in the interrogation room even stating she’s had a compulsion to hurt children since she herself was a child.

She’s been in a PA prison since 2024 and pled not guilty. Plea negotiations have been ongoing; prosecutors are seeking trial and the death penalty.

We have an epidemic of female child abusers, folks. Two & half years later and still no trial. Her confession is on video and it’s been deemed admissible.
