Something major happened with the brand new @SWBNewOrleans power system, knocking out drainage and water pumps for 30 minutes, according to a press release. No word yet on whether a boil water advisory will be called.
At one point, around 5:44 am, when the wind was whipping hard, every light in our house that is connected to an app came on very BRIGHT. It’s amazing my boys slept through it!
This morning’s weather - oh boy - it’s going to be a long day with little sleep. Between the lightning and thunder, the phone alerts, and power surges, it’s been wild. ⚡️
It’s been a while since I’ve had insomnia. The weather is crazy - so much lightning! And now a tornado watch. The alert made me jump but since I was already up, I was able to get to it quickly. Waiting to wake my boys up until we know more.
@nolanolegal It’s happened to me a lot. I’m quiet until I get to know you and on more than one occasion people have taken it me being standoffish. I think it’s more of a reflection of the other person.
My son & I noticed a lot of smoke on our way to school this morning. When we got closer we noticed there were no sirens, so we called it in. Operator asked if we could see through the smoke & he was able to describe it. I hope everyone’s okay! Great teachable moment.
@emilykmay My hubby is in the midst of applying for grad school in social work too. The admissions person has called him every week to check on his application status. She’s been so helpful! I’d definitely reach out to the school and see if they have some suggestions.
We were tourists in our own city today. Strolled through the French Quarter, ate on a balcony on Decatur and fluttered to the Aquarium. Gorgeous day to be out and about!
So many Jewish organizations are having to beef up security - schools, synagogues, nonprofits - and it comes at a cost. Thankful New Orleans has a security team in place.
The Michigan synagogue that came under attack this week when an armed man drove his car into the building had for months been strengthening its security apparatus. https://t.co/qC4bWy7w5J
