Abandon all hope, ye who want support through Tweets
@aomicreate It's a fundamentally different thing sadly, internally they referred to it as Udon 1.5. If it was just a name change it wouldn't matter much.
@InabaByakko_VRC @OpaatiaOfVR Yes Udon 2 is real C# that can use normal C# libraries and functionality. It has a few things it doesn't support for safety of course like filesystem access though.
@InabaByakko_VRC No LINQ support right now sadly. It should be possible as a set of extension methods, but they'd need to be specific to the collection types and can't use lambdas at the moment.
Hey! New UdonSharp release! Now with cool new features like non-behaviour classes, lists, and dictionaries! I have it published here https://t.co/K4KDWOLKs6
@ZekkVRC@dtupper@hfcRedddd Yeah that's what I did initially but with a camera to capture since they're slightly less jank. It's not that overkill unless you're looking for recording, like hundreds-to-thousands of frames.
@ZekkVRC@dtupper@hfcRedddd In my case I just captured the vertex positions because it was straightforward, currently looking at making a version that just captures the rotation of bones using skinned triangles, I think lyuma did something like that long ago.
@dtupper@ZekkVRC@hfcRedddd Going by performance numbers people are posting it sounds like the shader way is still much faster unless you're only doing one or two clones. Did one several years ago with dozens of clones. You can just do 1 capture of the mesh/transforms per frame and render everything at once
@Digital_VRC There's also the issue that VRC isn't a normal company. Normally you'd separate and never touch the thing again. For people like me, such an agreement would mean I couldn't even make Canny issues without worrying about them getting angry.
@Digital_VRC It is, but it's not in their best interests since the existence of the non-disparagement burns much of the goodwill they'd have for many people who might otherwise sign it. There's also https://t.co/ar4NUEI3qu
@WaifuverseAI Some of them probably yes across various roles. There are others that may not be immediately essential, but were important for mitigating issues that could now be unchecked and become critical in weeks/months.
Really hurts to hear about the layoffs at VRChat, I hope the best for all of my former coworkers who were hit by the layoffs. 30% of the already small team is crazy.
