We must view ourselves as individual parts of a collective protagonist called Mankind if we are to solve this complex problem.

They are beyond the ability of a singular hero to fix. Not even the Avengers can punch climate change back to where it came from.

As those symptoms become increasingly tangible we will continue to struggle to address the underlying problems because

Yet we cannot overcome it as it is a longitudinal problem whose symptoms are not yet inconvenient to those causing it.

This problem also relates to climate change. Deniers aside, we have been aware of this problem for decades.

Without this opportunity, solutions become few and far between.

And in a very individualistic fashion. Every problem presents an opportunity to place your name below it as the hero who solved it.

Therefore, we prefer to buy bombs that can “solve” today’s problems rather than better prepare students to solve tomorrow’s.

And the effects of money spent on education can only be measured longitudinally, across generations.

Yet defense spending vastly outstrips educational spending. This is because the effects of a bomb are immediate.
