This hackney cab was stopped due to a defective brake light. After speaking with the driver we requested they complete a roadside drugs wipe. This was positive for cannabis. Driver arrested.

Driver reported and off to court. Vehicle seized!

@damoefc1878 There is no problem Damo. We're happy we didn't have to arrest someone. We're also happy to have had the opportunity to remind them about the legal drink drive limit and the inexact science of 'just having a few'. Drink driving causes 17% of all road deaths so we'll keep going👍

During one of our World Cup drink/drug drive check sites last night, we had numerous drivers stopped who blew positive for alcohol but just under the limit. Needless to say, they looked quite pale when they realised they just risked it all for a few drinks!

@Bounce_BackLoan To reiterate, we're trying to stop people drink driving so they don't hurt or kill someone. Before we stop them we can't possibly know what they'll blow. But someone very close to the limit has taken a huge gamble. We don't publicly identify them or claim they are guilty.

This electric motorcycle failed to stop for Matrix Disruption colleagues in L8. RPU attended along with @MerPolDogs to assist. following a lengthy pursuit the riders luck ran out and he was detained. Rider arrested for numerous offences and motorcycle seized #OffTheCrusher.

@James69382185 @webscutter Exactly right, Police can stop any vehicle on the road to check the documents are in order. We don't need any other reason to stop a vehicle.

This vehicle was stopped at our check site in Bootle, the driver was found to have a Jordanian driving licence and had lived in the UK for over 2 years without exchanging their licence. Vehicle #seized and driver #reported

A few people getting excited about this one. Just to help, during the operation we issued Traffic Offence Reports for other offences and seized a car for being used illegally. We don't need reasons to stop vehicle being used on the road. Thanks

@chris_roughneen @webscutter No, we'll be praising drivers for driving within the speed limit having not had to stop them. To conduct drive drive test we have to stop them so you're not comparing similar circumstances. People stopped and found to be under the limit took a gamble. Hence won't be prosecuted.

This vehicle was stopped by RPU on the M57 due to poor manor of driving. The reason for the standard of driving became clear when the driver tested positive for cannabis and cocaine!

A concerned member of the public reported this HGV for driving erratically and contravening red lights. RPU stopped the vehicle and the driver tested positive for cocaine. #Arrested!

This van was sighted in #StHelens demonstrating a lack of patience in slow traffic, the driver decided to drive over the pavement with oncoming pedestrians and drove off at speed. Vehicle stopped, driver tested positive for drugs at the roadside and was #arrested.

This Mondeo evaded our #RPU patrol and it was found parked up nearby. Following some enquiries, it was found to be #cloned. Vehicle #seized and #CSIMerpol are on the case. #Seeyousoon

The driver of this vehicle was too busy talking on his mobile phone while driving to spot our marked XC90 next to him. After a chat with the driver, we discovered he was disqualified from driving. #Arrested.
