@arthur_affect @aaiqbal It’s also one of the most stable ways of providing municipal funding. You don’t suddenly want to be unable to pay teachers or trash pickup when the economy takes a slight hit. The federal government can raise funds easily. Your local municipality? Probably not so much.
@arthur_affect Even from a non-cancel culture perspective of just “actions have consequences”, landlady may be justified in wanting to avoid legal liability. Your tenant has a tendency to leave dangerous substances around that could get someone hurt and you sued? Totally reasonable.
@BootlegGirl I figured what you meant. Hard to believe that the prequels could alienate Finn fans, what with, y’know, time and chronology being a thing.
@arthur_affect @johnlk_80 Like, not only was there the Shazam/Superman fight, and the Captain Marvel/Shazam fight, but then a whole weird offshoot in the UK that got crazy involving Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman in the modern era. People have fought over that name for as long as comics have been around.
@BootlegGirl Having both stocks and bonds go down at the same time usually means that interest rates are going up and stocks are going down, which isn't a terribly unusual combo (and, in fact, the interest hike rate can cause the stock drop).
