I joined Pakistan's finance minister, Daron Acemoglu and Reza Baqir to discuss Pakistan's economy at Harvard in April this year. Our conversation is now available on youtube. Hope people find it useful.
The Canadian flag will fly at half-mast on federal buildings across Canada.
All Canadians stand with the service members at CFB Wainwright, their families, and their community.
the crowd absolutely erupts when Carney says the Pacific Link pipeline will reduce Canada's dependence on the U.S.
Mark Carney: "Careful. They might think that's election interference. They're a little touchy down there. We're not. We're getting on with it."
Today, we give thanks for Canada – for the rights, freedoms, and opportunities we share, for the care Canadians show one another, and for the future we are building together.
Prime Minister Carney wishes everyone a happy Thanksgiving.

🚨BREAKING: Mayor Zohran Mamdani says NYC will move more than 10,000 low-income children off the child care voucher waitlist, providing free care for kids from 6 weeks to 13 years old, and through 19 for children with special needs.
The expansion is backed by Gov. Kathy Hochul’s $1.2 billion child care investment and comes after the city eliminated out-of-pocket voucher fees and launched universal 2-K.
It’s another concrete step toward Mamdani’s broader promise of universal child care, while giving thousands of parents immediate relief now.

The video ends with the words “an olive tree grows in Gracie”, which NYC lit nerds will recognize as a nod to Betty Smith’s 1943 novel “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.” The Mayor sent a classy message to Netanyahu right as he speaks now while paying homage to classic NYC. Immaculate.
What we’ve done to Junaid Hafeez is beyond criminal. 13 years of his life for alleged blasphemy? And what is this blasphemy law anyway. Why are Muslims so insecure about their religion that they need blasphemy laws to protect it? No honor, no dignity and no holy personage is more sacred than human life. You can take your hurt sentiments and shove them.

Glad that this has happened but just a reminder no monument no street no school is named after Pakistan’s first foreign minister or Pakistan’s first law minister, despite their stellar contributions to the country.
Mark Carney recounts Donald Trump presenting him with a key to the White House: "You just bring it, they'll let you in, and then he says, maybe they'll shoot you. And that sort of sums up the relationship that we have."
Now if Iqbal borrowed his idea of a Muslim homeland from the Ahmadis and Ahmadis are wrongly accused by Sunnis of being the “takhlif” of the British, does it mean that Pakistan itself was such a takhlif? That is what anti Pakistan Mullahs used to say back then as well. Pakistanis at least should get their narrative right and stop committing national suicide by abusing Ahmadis.
Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood sb the second Caliph of Jamaat Ahmadiya had originally given the idea of a separate Muslim homeland in 1928… 2 years before Iqbal and four years after Lala Lajpat Rai of Congress and Mahasabha. According to this book Iqbal took the idea from him.
