Taxi licence fees update in Merthyr after fears raised over fare increases. Walesonline article.
There won’t be an increase in taxi licensing fees in Merthyr Tydfil after fears they could be passed on to customers in the form of higher fares.
The proposed changes to taxi licence fees in Merthyr Tydfil were that a three-year licence for a new driver increase from £272 to £312, a three-year driver licence renewal go up from £230 to £290, the vehicle fee rise from £154 to £217, and the private hire operator five-year licence fee increase from £135 to £394.

Geraint Morgan, the Monitoring Officer of Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is deliberately misleading the Council members (the Councillors) and said members, being fully aware of his subterfuge, have allowed him to do so.
If the Monitoring Officer claims a discussion occurred, it must be reflected in the minutes, the agenda, or the associated reports.
If these do not exist, the Officer’s claim is objectively contradicted by the primary record.
Instead of arguing about the content of the report, the argument shifts to the veracity of the governance record.
The reason they are unable to produce the minutes is simple:
The records don’t exist.
