@grok@gorobisoneyedol@lisapease Based on Mamet's dramatic criticism is their any basis for calling the motive for the old woman's murder "random" or is the motive clearly connected to works Spine?
@grok@gorobisoneyedol@lisapease While not wrong, that is a very odd way to describe Mamet's film - which while being critical of Jewish paranoia about Nazis - ultimately reveals the true villain to be urban blacks who are antisemitic out of ignorance.
@Devon_Eriksen_@uncledoomer After Malfoid, the next most important thing happening in American Culture is the Zoomer re-interp of Anakin.
Young men are making Culture and you want to hold onto your opinion?
@ExamplePrime@MalfoidArchive It used to be "racial slur" but they dropped the essential modifer bc nothing matters more than their thing.
They did the same with "male chauvinist" and we lost that great word to feminist hysteria.
@EveKeneinan Bingo. and finding out how Malfoid exposes the aesthetic impact of her beliefs is why Malfoid, for the social critic, is the object of study rn.
@EveKeneinan a mimesis of an inside joke - the imitation of an intimate shared reference, mediated, with strangers - that you wont think of as strangers after all those memes.
@EveKeneinan Malfoid needed a dispassionate, philosopher's touch and thankfully you have arrived.
The issue for critic is the "natural directions, directions Rowling never took, and perhaps couldn't,"
I am at the point of attributing it completely to sex difference:

Malfoid proves that JK Rowling was too pusillanimous to understand her own story, and it required the more logical poetic mind of men to correct the error.
And what would have been obvious until the end of WWII is again discovered with amazement.
Genderbending proper would actually suit Rowling well.
Her boys are near-girls anyway, so less would change if we just genderbent the entire cast.
If Harry and Ron were girls, there would be a female Draco Malfoy, who is a shallow, nasty mean girl. Something like that would be a "genderbent Draco Malfoy." It would be, in other words, "Draco Malfoy, but translated into 'girl'."
What's interesting about THAT, is that it is so much LESS interesting.
Malfoid isn't that at all. Malfoid rather forces is Rowling's narrative in new, surprising, fresh, but also natural directions, directions Rowling never took, and perhaps couldn't, since they depend on dynamics between men and women that it isn't clear a Boomer feminist understands.
Malfoid is NOT "Draco Malfoy traslated into 'girl'." Malfoid is "what if there had never been a Draco, but a Dracaena instead?"
Those are very different.
To say the obvious, Malfoid is not even, properly speaking, a genderbent character.
There is not really a strong meaningful sense that Malfoid necessarily is "DRACO MALFOY, but a girl."
Rather the idea is much more like "What if Malfoy heir was a born a girl, not a boy."
She isn't Draco. She was never Draco. She does fill Draco's "place" in the story, but only to an extent.
Dracaena, Draconia, Dracina, whatever you like. The point is she is an entirely different character from Draco Malfoy.
This seems important, because the "gender swap" isn't the point. It's merely the one necessary "what if?" that starts knocking over the dominoes.
This is an interesting detail.
Ukrainians, in their usual fashion, tried to trick Starlink's terms of service by hacking its internal software to make it look like terminals were stationary.
Elon figured it out and upgraded software to adhere to terms of service. He didn't limit anything.
Zelensky lied again and politicized this. As I have said before - Zelensky is running a blatant election interference campaign against Trump Republicans.
The US politicians and Zelensky are still accusing Elon of blood in his hands, while all that he did was resetting terminals to their original settings.
@CoreyJMahler He is actually exposing a very common conceptual error among the educated of America.
The left-right binary political model is an essential lie that completely obscures the alternative.
