One of the figures who symbolises the exchange between Japan and Ghana is Hideyo Noguchi. In 1927, Noguchi travelled to Africa to study yellow fever and continued his research in what is now Ghana. In cooperation with local researchers and medical personnel, we focussed on determining the cause of the disease. Unfortunately, Noguchi himself was infected with yellow fever and died in Ghana. Even today, there is the Hideyo Noguchi Memorial Museum in Acra, which is a symbol of exchanges between Japan and Ghana in the fields of medicine and humanitarianism.
