Same broken ideology, new branding.
‘Cut red tape’ means: scrap bank ring-fencing, gut the Ombudsman, ease capital rules. Translation: free up capital for asset holders, not the country.
Big finance doesn’t fund decade-long R&D or infrastructure. Too slow, too risky. It funds what pays now: buy-to-let portfolios, share buybacks, balance-sheet engineering.
There’s no job creation in extracting rent. No wage growth in financial engineering. Just a longer runway for capital to compound while wages stagnate.
This isn’t a growth plan. It’s a license to strip whatever’s left.
‘You’ll own nothing and be happy’ except the asset holders, who’ll own everything and call it freedom.
True patriotism is supporting your country and community. Volunteering at a food bank, or a youth service, or at your local community centre. Patriotism is not putting cheap tacky flags on a lamppost and painting a cross on a roundabout.
@roguevampira98@Ari_Batgirl@OdnaldaW2 Women's bathrooms have private cubicles. Men's have urinals where everything is on show. I'd have no objection to a man accompanying his young daughters like this rather than take them into a men's bathroom.
Feargal Sharkey brands '£100billion' cost of nationalising water 'nonsense'.
Spot on.
They inflate investment by capitalising part of interest, repair/maintenance cost.
Govt says Thames Water is worth £21bn. KKR wouldn't pay £4bn.
Nationalise water.

The problem isn't pensioners.
The problem isn't young workers.
The problem is an economy that pits ordinary people against each other while ignoring the structures creating insecurity in the first place.
@More_Kat_Moore@Fox_Claire Agree. I've 2 nieces, 21 and 18, who are really struggling to find any work, even casual. No choice but to live at home. Too few job opportunities which offer any security. Minimum wage for 18-20 year olds is just £10.85 per hour! Under 18 it's just £8! I'd be depressed, tbh!
This is an important shift.
Poverty isn't a law of nature or personal failing. It's produced by rules around wages, housing, tax & power.
The crossover with UBI is clear: redesign the economy so everyone has security, not just those the market rewards 🧵
