They have offered supports, but what good are supports when there are no other places to move folks into hotel, shelter or housing?

For an empathy-based approach, it’s surprising how little the emails reveal about the challenges faced by folks actually living outside, and how much focus was placed on managing HRM reputations. The crisis is about PEOPLE without housing. We need to ensure that's our focus.

While we are thrilled knowing that The Sunflower will soon be home to 55-60 people, we need to see 1000s more units created, so all Nova Scotians can enjoy the right to housing.

It weighs on us heavily, knowing so many people in Halifax do not have housing or safe shelter right now. We find hope in The Sunflower. We expect to see 55-60 women families & gender diverse folks making their homes there soon. 🌻It is so so exciting. #housingisahumanright

Remember, people don't 'deserve' housing, it's a human right. That means governments are obligated to ensure that those who are most in need are properly housed and have access to adequate, affordable, secure housing.
