Two MNBC Presidents removed in the last 5 years
You can feel the weight of that as a member of this Nation
The silence
The damage
The truth rising anyway
It’s always darkest before the dawn
And now our citizens will decide what kind of leadership comes next

My daughter asked if we could bake my grandma’s bannock recipe for her class picnic.
Her great grandma is no longer with us, so making it felt like a quiet way to honour her, and keep that love moving forward through my kids.

The Lies Canada Told the Métis
Métis history in Canada where officials said one thing and the outcome was something else.
The Métis story didn’t end. It continued through families, community, and culture. We’re still here, still building, and still moving forward.
#Metis
When politics turns into infighting and ego, our communities feel it first.
Kids wait.
Elders wait.
Citizens wait.
Leadership should serve the people, not distract from them.
Community over politics.
Citizens over chaos.
The Nation deserves better.
He came back not for power, or fame, but because his people asked him to lead once more. This time, he wasn’t alone. Gabriel Dumont was right there with him. A skilled leader, a protector, & a symbol of Métis resistance
What followed became known as the North West Resistance
The governments of the day called him a traitor. They feared him because he fought for our land, our language, and our rights.
If he is watching from above today, you know he is smiling.
That Métis smile.
That “I told you so” smile.
Because the Nation he died for is alive!
Métis Resistance: The Ones Who Stood Anyway
Forty years old, a nation on his shoulders. Riel stood anyway. Exiled, then called home and history met him at Batoche.

Over the past three weekends, my daughter and I made our very first capote together, an incredible experience led by our community Women’s Rep and surrounded by strong Métis matriarchs. It was three weekends filled with laughter, learning, and connection to culture.

The Métis capote is a long hooded blanket coat that grew out of the fur trade. In the 1700s and 1800s, people turned heavy wool blankets into practical winter wear for hunting, travel, and daily work.

Harry Daniels fought so the Métis would not be erased. Section 35 of the Constitution names First Nations, Inuit & Métis, affirming our rights, culture & identity. Métis isn’t “mixed blood” it’s a Nation. Our rights aren’t gifts. They are ours.

Across the homeland, Métis citizens are waking up. From BC to Manitoba, people are standing together, raising their voices, and questioning the direction of the leadership that was meant to serve them.

The last two months have been full of headlines for the Métis Nation. In BC, the president has been suspended. In Saskatchewan, the president is busy suspending members of the Provincial Métis Council and making comments that don’t sit well with citizens.
In Oct 1869, Louis Riel stopped surveyors from carving up Red River without Métis consent. The land wasn’t empty—it was home.
By Nov, he led hundreds to occupy Fort Garry. This was the birth of Manitoba—and the spark of a Nation that never went out.

The Battle of Fish Creek (1885): Gabriel Dumont led 200 Métis & Cree in an ambush that stopped 900 Canadian troops. A bullet grazed Dumont’s head—but they held the line. We remember.
#MétisHistory#ProudMétis
After Riel was hanged in 1885, Gabriel Dumont fled with nothing. Captured in the US, freed by President Cleveland, he performed in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. He returned home, disillusioned. On May 19, 1906, he passed away. His legacy endures in every act of Métis resilience
On #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we honour Métis leaders who carried our Nation:
— Cuthbert Grant: first to lead
— Louis Riel: martyr & visionary
— Our matriarchs: culture keepers
— Jim Sinclair: grassroots fighter
— Harry Daniels: legal warrior
We are their dream. #MétisPride
What if Louis Riel had an iPhone during the Red River Resistance in 1869?
📱: “Just finished talking to them… and it’s a no-go.”
