Our vision for athlete monitoring and analytics is about the delivery of actionable and timely information.
Accumulating endless rows of hard to action data will seem preposterously archaic!
"We need to stay away from information that’s either esoteric academic, that could be hard to understand or hard to act on, or information that can lead people into practices that may not work or may not properly target what they really want to change in action.”

Combining the subjective with the objective. The ability to integrate velocity with the subjective is the future for #VBT
Share with your online coach, reflect on what went well/poorly and adjust. Plenty more coming to expand this feature for @MetricVBT#buildinpublic
A new velocity zones system for #velocitybasedtraining
- Customise to the exercise & individual
- 3 zones; speed, power, strength
- Takes into account multiple variables; % of 1RM, max power, LV profile.
Key: Different qualities require more than just adjusted bar speeds
You gotta pick the exercise (and contraction type) before you worry about the moment velocity
Velocity will almost always be a consequence, not a driver of the programming we do #velocitybasedtraining#speedstrength
Current settings for my VBT logbook:
- Col A-C: Basic details filters for readiness
- Col D: Best rep velocity, this is my favourite measure of fatigue status
- Col E-F: 30/90-day average for exercise + load
