Week 7 is here already, so here's the Schedules for this week: #50 @WoodhavenFTBALL at #26 @CHSMarauderFB This is the marquee matchup of the week in the Downriver League. Woodhaven brings a high-powered, dynamic offense that can strike quickly through the air and on the ground. They take on a tough, well-disciplined Marauders team on their home turf in Gibraltar. Carlson’s defense will need to control the line of scrimmage and limit big plays, while Woodhaven will look to set a fast tempo early to keep the Marauders on their heels. Next game is #74 @TrentonHSFB at #120 @Southgate_Fball A classic Downriver battle featuring two physical, run-heavy teams. Trenton relies on a methodical ground game, disciplined offensive line play, and a hard-hitting defense that thrives on suffocating sustained drives. Time of possession and turnover margin will be the deciding factors in this physical contest. The 3rd game in downriver league contest sees #150 @EF_FBall at #108 @RailsplitterFB. Edsel Ford hits the road to face Lincoln Park in a matchup where momentum is everything. Edsel Ford has shown flashes of dynamic playmaking and will look to push the pace to test Lincoln's secondary. Meanwhile, Lincoln will aim to establish a physical presence at home, control the clock with a heavy dose of the run game, and force Edsel Ford into long third-down situations. Our 4th and final game of head to head downriver league action will see #77 @AllenParkFBall at #114 @WYBEARSFOOTBALL Allen Park brings a balanced, executed attack into Wyandotte to take on The Bears. Allen Park excels at capitalizing on mistakes and sustaining long, disciplined drives. Wyandotte’s home-field advantage at Roosevelt High School always brings high energy, and the Bears will need their defense to step up early, force passing downs, and generate defensive stops to spark their offense. Finally our last game is #133 @TaylorGriffins at #22 @TecAthletics Taylor goes on the road for a challenging non-league step-out matchup against Tecumseh. Taylor continues to build consistency and will look to make a strong statement on the road with quick execution and aggressive defensive play. Our first Huron League game features #113 @GIRedDevilPride at #37 Monroe Jefferson This is a major opportunity for Grosse Ile as they hit the road to test themselves against a tough, top-40 ranked Jefferson squad. Jefferson’s offense excels at leaning on opponents with physical, methodical drives that wear down defenses by the second half. For Grosse Ile to pull off the road upset, they will need disciplined gap control on defense, eliminate big plays, and capitalize on every scoring chance inside the red zone. Our second Huron League game is #154 @Milan_Athletics at #95 @FR_Athletics A classic Huron League clash with Flat Rock hosting Milan in a game where line play will dictate the tempo. Game of the Week Spotlight: @WoodhavenFTBALL at @CHSMarauderFB
This matchup stands out as the game to watch in the Downriver League, bringing high-stakes playoff and league title implications to Gibraltar. Carlson comes into this game undefeated 6-0 overall, 5-0 in league play, operating as a highly balanced machine. Running back Brennan Hudson drives their offense, averaging nearly 140 rushing yards per game with 13 total touchdowns. Up front, the Marauders boast massive physical size on both trenches with players like Sam Przytula (6'6", 275 lbs) and Joshua Newby (6'3", 300 lbs) anchoring the line of scrimmage. Sitting at 5-1, Woodhaven brings a fast, multi-dimensional attack led by quarterback Preston Scheffler. Scheffler poses a double threat—leading the team in rushing touchdowns while distributing the ball effectively through the air to wide receivers Devante Clayborn, Jordan Jackson, and 6'4" target Aiden Barnes. The battle inside the trenches will dictate the outcome. If Carlson's linebacker core led by Drew Biro and Jake Evans can stifle Woodhaven’s ground game and force long third downs, Carlson can execute its grind-it-out game plan. Conversely, if Woodhaven's defensive front gets to the backfield and generates extra possessions, their quick-strike offense could quiet the home crowd early. #DownriverMI #HighSchoolFootball #Woodhaven #Gibralter #MHSAA
St. Mary Catholic Central (SMCC) continues to prove why they're the team to beat! Between a league-leading +129 point differential and a statement 55-15 win over Huron, the Falcons hold down the #1 spot. Monroe Jefferson’s Unbeaten and matching SMCC step for step! Jefferson keeps rolling with huge victories over top contenders Huron (36-21) and Riverview (36-24). Sitting at 4-1 (.800 win %), Huron edges out Riverview for 3rd thanks to their wild 64-56 head-to-head shootout win earlier this season. Don't sleep on Riverview—a strong +72 point differential and a high-powered offense keep them firmly in the top tier at 4-2, and ranked in 4th just behind the only 2 teams to have beaten them this year. Grosse Ile takes 5th with a +7 point diff and standard-setting grit, hanging tough in a tight 28-21 battle against undefeated SMCC earlier in the season, and their win against Airport (44-16). Flat Rock is right on their heels! Flat Rock owns the head-to-head over Grosse Ile (33-21) and has proven they can play with anyone after razor-thin losses to #1 SMCC (29-19) and #2 Jefferson (28-26). But their losses on Friday to Riverview moved them down the order. Milan holds down 7th place, using a clutch non-conference win over Redford Westfield Prep to stay ahead of the bottom, but the big reds are struggling to win in conference games, they look to turn their recent form around this Friday when they play Flat Rock. It’s been a tough road for Airport, still searching for their first win of the season (-136 point diff) as they look to turn things around. But the jets won't give up hope as they almost pulled off a win against SMCC earlier this year by a score of (13-26)

Here is how the Downriver League shakes out as team standings and tiebreakers start taking shape:
The Carlson Marauders, Dominating from top to bottom! Undefeated overall and in conference play, Carlson sits comfortably at 1st behind a massive +183 point differential. The Marauders look to keep things going this weekend as they play Woodhaven on Friday, in my game of the week. Allen Park Jaguars, Holding down 2nd with the league's signature win: a gritty 13-12 victory over 5-1 Woodhaven. That head-to-head tiebreaker gives the Jags the edge at the top, they look to keep up the win streak this Friday as they play the Bears of Wyandotte. Sitting at 5-1 with an explosive +150 point differential, the Warriors of Woodhaven look every bit like a title contender—slotted just behind Allen Park due to that tight head-to-head result. The Warriors are in action this Friday as they travel to Carlson to take on the Marauders, should be a great game this weekend. Trenton Trojans, Don't let the 3-3 record fool you—Trenton is dangerous. They own a +49 point differential, a signature 42-14 blow-out win over Allen Park, and took #1 Carlson to the wire in a 21-14 battle. The other losses are to Wyandotte 21-35, and against DeWitt, who is always a State Championship Contender in Division 3 Football. Lincoln Park Railsplitters, A solid 2-2 conference record keeps Lincoln Park steady in 5th place, carving out clear separation above the lower tier. Wyandotte Roosevelt Bears, Holding down 6th thanks to high-stakes victories over Trenton (35-21) and a wild 64-60 thriller over Lincoln Park, giving them a stronger profile and point diff (-52) than the teams behind them. The bears look to keep the momentum rolling as they play Allen Park at home this Friday. Southgate Anderson Titans, While they own a direct 22-19 head-to-head win over Wyandotte, a lower point differential (-72 vs. -52) keeps the Titans in 7th position for now. Sitting at 1-4 in league play with a -123 point differential, the Thunderbirds land in 8th place as they look to build momentum down the stretch. Despite a quality 26-10 win over Wyandotte, a 1-5 overall record drops the Griffins into the 9th spot in a deep league.
