@wesstreeting If you gave even a ghost of a shit about this, you would have aired these objections publicly and resigned from the government, not done literally nothing of worth
@sapphicnightowl Religious belief is usually centered around sacrifice or hardship rather than indulgence. This may be due to costly signalling, the idea that the legitimacy of religious belief and ritual is communicated via a perceived cost the person proclaiming it.

@DaleVince "Keir Starmer has a massive democratic mandate from the public"
I have no idea why Labour party loyalists keep bringing this absurd talking point up, he's not the president, he has a mandate solely from his constituents. Also, 4/5ths of eligible voters did not vote Labour.
@JohnSlinger John, the Prime Minister having certain views (like that genocide isn't really much of a big deal should a certain middle eastern terror state do it) is a bit more consequential than practically anyone else
@KarlTurnerMP What are they going to do ? kick out 80 MPs? You won't have a majority if you do that, youd have to form a coalition with the Lib Dems (or the Tories given the direction Labour is heading)
@JamesMarshcz3o @desigotdone Chemistry or Mathematics i might be impressed with, but management? basically just 4 years of getting pissed down the campus bar
@cezthesocialist in addition to this, it's fairly shortsighted for many business owners to lament this on its face when as wages stagnate and essentials get more expensive, they consequently have fewer and fewer customers. Nobody's going to your coffee shop if they can barely afford rent.
@phrygiandomina@i2cjak Even if they don't officially implement this, a much much cleaner system that isnt just a house of cards built on top of Unity of all things should enable modders to do amazing things
