DID YOU KNOW?
EVERY SOLDIER BELONGS TO A CORPS
When a person joins the Nigerian Army, they don't simply become a soldier without a professional identity. Personnel are assigned to different Corps, branches, or specialist areas within the Army.
So, what is a Corps?
A Corps is a professional branch of the Army made up of personnel with specialised roles, skills, and responsibilities that contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Nigerian Army.
Some examples include:
🔹 Nigerian Army Infantry Corps
🔹 Nigerian Army Armoured Corps
🔹 Nigerian Army Artillery Corps
🔹 Nigerian Army Corps of Engineers
🔹 Nigerian Army Corps of Signals
🔹 Nigerian Army Medical Corps
🔹 Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps
🔹 Nigerian Army Finance Corps
🔹 Nigerian Army Military Police
🔹 Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps etc
Each Corps has its own professional responsibilities, training requirements and role in supporting the Army's mission. For example, the Nigerian Army Medical Corps provides medical services to personnel, while the Corps of Signals is associated with military communications.
Different Corps. Different expertise. One Army.

A thread worth engaging. 🧵👇
Today, I feel incredibly fulfilled seeing the MOU I facilitated between the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on 8th May, 2026 come to life.
The formal commencement of the CNG Retrofitting Training Programme in FCT, Adamawa State, Kano State, Enugu State, Edo State and Lagos State has been made possible through the support and commitment of the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, the Director-General of NADDC Otunba Joseph Osanipin, the Director-General of NYSC Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, and the Chairman, Presidential Initiative on CNG and Electric Vehicles (PiCNG & EV); Barr. Ismael Ahmed.
Beginning today, 300 corps members with backgrounds in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering and Electrical Engineering will undergo intensive training in CNG retrofitting technology. Beyond the orientation camp, the beneficiaries will remain engaged throughout their NYSC service year through practical attachments to designated CNG conversion centres, providing them with valuable industry exposure and opportunities to further develop their technical skills.
This initiative reflects the Renewed Hope vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which continues to place youth development, skills acquisition and economic opportunity at the heart of Nigeria’s development agenda.
I deeply appreciate Mr. President for his continued support for initiatives such as this, which invest in the capacity of young Nigerians and prepare them to contribute meaningfully to our economy.
The programme is an important investment in the human capital required to support Nigeria’s growing CNG ecosystem. By equipping young Nigerians with practical technical skills, it would contribute to improved employability, entrepreneurship and the development of a skilled workforce capable of supporting the expansion and sustainability of CNG conversion across the country.
Today’s event was highly memorable for me as I had the rare honour of inspecting the Guard of Honour at the ceremony, an opportunity graciously conferred on me by the Honourable Minister. I sincerely appreciate the honour and gesture, and I deeply respect his leadership and commitment to advancing opportunities for young Nigerians.
Once again, I sincerely appreciate the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande; the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu; the Director-General of NADDC, Otunba Joseph Osanipin; the Chairman, PiCNG & EV, Barr. Ismail Ahmed; and all officials and stakeholders whose collaboration and commitment have made this initiative possible.
This is Renewed Hope in action; creating opportunities for young Nigerians to acquire relevant skills, gain practical experience and become active contributors to Nigeria’s economic transformation.
