@Captain_Deltic@MarstonGareth "Really counts" for who? It matters not for the still privatised TOCs. Wales, Scotland, and mayors all seem to value the wider economic benefits of transport more than lowering the subsidy.
@Captain_Deltic@AndyRoden1 I think the recent interviews with Lawrence Bowman and others have said this.
Maybe cuts in capacity to match demand rather than services is the way to go. 4/8 cars MFO vice 8/12 TWThO.
@EastMidRailway a new low in service quality on 1D58 16:35 STP-NOT.
Not the 11 mins late that we're currently running, but the 3 toilets locked out of use compounded by the 4th in coach A where the door isn't working, so no working toilets at all. 222017 @TUKGroup_
@matthewhodg I predict the diesel bi-mode is dead for anything except high speed (100mph+) requirements. Everything else will be battery and electric.
LIV-NRW possibly the hardest test for BEMU bc of the unelectrified dist HAZ to Grantham. But BEMUs on other routes could cascade 170s.
@JohnJohnStewart@RobinJPickering The immediate problem - according to you - is congestion. Traffic is the problem, other means of transport is the solution.
Hi @EastMidRailway
1C65 was showing as cancelled at EMD, so passengers for London were diverted to the Ivanhoe to change at LEI.
1C65 has just passed us 20' late.
There are 1.5 million cycle journeys a day in London. Imagine if half of those cyclists decided to drive— that chaos on the roads.
Be thankful for cyclists; they are doing you a favour if you are choosing to drive.
@terrychristian@RMTunion This decision would have been taken by the railway's operations control in liaison with the emergency services, directly communicated to the driver by radio.
@Captain_Deltic@philatrail Would @EurostarUK have to apply for increased depot access to service more trains in the same way as any other operator?
Increased demand on depot access is driven by an increase in train service + the trainsets' maintenance requirements. New trains may req less maintenance.
@nationalgriduk@DerbyCC
Footpath completely closed on Meadow Road, Derby leading to the steps to the pedestrian bridge alongside Holmes Bridge/Eastgate.
No diversion.
I fail to see why access couldn't be maintained.
