55 years ago today, November 14, 1970, Marshall University, Marshall Football, Huntington, and cities and towns around America experienced the tragedy of a lifetime.

75 members of Southern Airways Flight 932 perished on the return flight from a game at East Carolina.

For 55 autumns, those 75 men and women have been honored through resilience, resolve, hard work, dedication, pride, & thanks.

Through wins and losses. Through two-days. Through blood, sweat, & tears. Through blistering heat and bitter cold. Through demoralizing defeat. Through Championships.

The Herd has run onto the field as a symbol of a city, a State, and a University. A symbol of strength and love.

Season after season of unfathomable plays, unexplainable wins, and memories of Championship trophies raised.

The Herd has not endured, but thrived. Three words have encapsulated the identity of The Herd. Simple and powerful. Our call to unite. Three words that live in the hearts and minds of all that wear the Kelly Green and White.

We Are… Marshall

That is our rallying cry. All day. Everyday. With conviction and pride. With our whole chests.

This team was really frustrating at times, but gosh dang it, I stuck all the way through. That Georgia Southern loss was the lowest of lows, and now we have arrived at the highest of highs. Was I emotional? Yes, but I was emotional cause I cared so much.

I have mixed feelings about Huff (especially after the VT game), but gosh dang it, he is a good leader for the players. Never gave up hope as idk why wouldn't you root for your coach to have success. I just wish I could say to him, "Thank you for making me look like a fool," with how wrong I was.

We all wanted to get over the hump, and this amazing staff has done it; this Herd squad will forever be etched in history. Thank you to the entire staff for everything you do for this program. Go Herd.

@jrstout55 @RickyNations If we were looking at this game alone, I would tend to agree that maybe the players didn’t execute. However, we have 4 seasons of mismanaged game plans to support the coach being the issue. Last night, we had a great win. The boys on the field executed perfectly at the end.

Huff interviewed for a job at a conference school the week we are fighting for a spot in the championship. I knew he was a trash coach after Georgia southern but our boys made him look good. I’m so glad we will be looking for a new coach in the off season. @TheHerdAD @CoachHuff
