NEW: Thousands more Marines and sailors are on the way to the Middle East as the U.S. bolsters its presence in the region.

A task force of about 4,500 personnel from the USS Boxer amphibious ready group and the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit is currently sailing across the Pacific to deploy.

Once in the Middle East, the group will overlap with the USS Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group and 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit for some time, and then will replace the 31st MEU altogether.

I have so much respect, and feel so much honor for her, but my mama heart is torn apart because my daughter just deployed yesterday on a Navy ship and we won’t be able to hear from her for about three months or longer. I am so proud of her, but active duty scares me! 😔
