This 3D-printed Doctor Who chess set is easily one of the coolest gifts I have ever received from a student. I am incredibly impressed by the time and effort that clearly went into making it. I’m truly lucky to have students like this!

@evhornbeck His argument about the price differences on the Canadian and US sides also ignore basic geography. Niagara is a relatively short distance from *three* of the 10 largest metro areas in Canada. Buffalo is part of the 49th-largest US metro area and isolated from major US cities.

@privacylawyer I once got the 6-inch version of this out of sheer morbid curiosity while I was working and had a short lunch break. It was honestly fine. But I 100% agree that any waterfront patio or stall is likely to be better.

@smackdonna My wife is from Toronto, and it’s apparently common there for high schools to have their own pools and to incorporate swimming into both grade 9 phys ed and higher-level standalone classes. They would teach you how to swim in grade 9 if you didn’t already know.

@smackdonna Growing up in Fairview in the 90s to early 00s, I remember no more than a handful of school-affiliated “fun” trips to the old Northcliffe pool. I still don’t actually know how to swim without a lifejacket.

The sheer number of sidewalks being closed for construction in the South End is getting out of hand. These three sites are within two blocks in a busy pedestrian area, and two of them have been going for weeks now.
