Jimmy Dore Exposes Meta's December 16th DM Snooping Plan

Meta is set to cross a new privacy threshold. Starting December 16th, the tech giant will begin systematically reading users' private direct messages across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

According to a new privacy update, Meta will collect the content of your DMs, photos, and voice messages to feed its AI models and generate profit. This applies globally, with users in the EU and UK getting a brief reprieve until March 4th due to stricter data laws.

The policy is blunt: "We collect your activity... including [the] content of your messages." There is no simple opt-out setting. The only way to avoid this data harvesting is to stop using the platforms entirely.

This move shatters the illusion of privacy on apps like WhatsApp. It also raises grave concerns in regions like the UK, where authorities already arrest thousands annually for social media posts. Now, private messages will be part of that surveillance dragnet.

Meta denies having backdoors, but its former Head of Security is now suing the company, alleging it allows thousands of engineers to access sensitive user data and fails to stop the hacking of over 100,000 accounts daily.

So, how can you fight back? You can submit a data request to opt out of your information being used for AI, but the process is intentionally cumbersome and can only be done on a desktop.
