This is a shocker. A mother of three from Gaza who came to the UK as a refugee has just won a human rights challenge to bring in 18, yes18, of her relatives - both parents, a brother, his wife and four children, a sister and her four children and another sister, her husband and their three children.
None of them speak English and the mother only has room to house her parents with the rest taking up social housing away from British families.
Not to mention the the cost of the 18 filling our schools and NHS clinics.
Plus the signal it gives tens of thousands of Palestinian families that the UK courts are an easy touch and they should head here.
Another bloody awful and costly decision by our courts. Labour won’t do anything about it as they look on the people as Labour voters of the future.

A 20 year old Tunisian man who raped a 56 year old woman in Germany is in the country illegally, but instead of locking him up, or even deporting him, a judge has decided that his parents’ divorce delayed his maturation and thus is reason to sentence him as a juvenile.

The rapist, now 21, has been given probation, and he will begin training to work in the German healthcare sector this fall.

Nobody set out to acquire Nelson. He came free with a horse.

The yard took Hector on his retirement from the Household Cavalry, and the rehoming woman mentioned, on her way out, that the big gelding did not settle without his companion, then produced from behind the trailer a small grey donkey wearing the expression of a man who has read the contract and found it broadly acceptable.

Hector is seventeen hands. Nelson is a good deal less than that. This has never once occurred to Nelson as relevant.

He was, they later learned, born on a Welsh smallholding to a mother who taught him the two founding principles of the donkey: assess everything, hurry for nothing. He took to both early. As a foal he is said to have watched a distant barn fire with the air of a man waiting to see whether it would come to anything. It did not, in his view, come to much.

He arrived at the field, walked the boundary once, identified the driest corner and the first claim on the hay, and had annexed both by teatime. Hector, a decorated veteran of state ceremonial, deferred to him without appearing to notice he was doing it. He has deferred ever since.

Nelson's single documented fear is rain, which he regards as a personal slight arranged by management. His single documented loyalty is Hector, whom he has never praised, thanked, or acknowledged, and for whom he would, if pressed, do absolutely nothing dramatic, on the grounds that dramatic things are for horses.

He has never brayed in alarm. He has brayed exactly twice, both times at a hay delivery running late.

He runs the field the way he does everything. Quietly, first, and dry.

Those who mourned Khamenei tell you all you need to know about who he was.

Representatives from over 100 countries came to Tehran this week to pay respects to a man who spent four decades exporting war. Pakistan's prime minister showed up. Russia sent Medvedev, who called Khamenei's death a "martyrdom", as if the man who bankrolled proxy wars across four countries died a saint. The Taliban sent their foreign minister. Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Hamas all had delegations in the same room, mourning the man who built and armed all three from the ashes of other people's countries.

And Lebanon sent its defense minister.

Let's be honest about what that funeral actually was. It wasn't a state burying a statesman. It was the axis of resistance gathering to mourn the architect of its own machinery; the man who turned Lebanon, Yemen, Gaza, and Iraq into forward operating bases for a regime that never once fought its own wars on its own soil. Every flower laid in that hall was laid on someone else's grave.

So why would Lebanon — a country that was dragged into a devastating war with Israel by Iran's most powerful proxy — send anyone at all?

Ask yourself which is more precious: Khamenei's life, or the tens of thousands of lives his regime spent like currency across this region? Khamenei is no martyr. He is owed nothing. Not grief, not ceremony, not a single bowed head.

If anyone deserves consolation, it's the mothers of the more than 40,000 Iranians executed, and the many more tortured and disappeared, for the crime of demanding freedom from this man's rule. Nobody sent them a delegation. Nobody laid them a wreath. Yet the world found time to mourn their executioner.

Lebanon says it wants out of the axis of resistance. It says it wants a seat at the table with the Abraham Accords states. You don't earn that seat by sending your defense minister to bow before the man who armed Hezbollah to hold your country hostage for forty years. You earn it by refusing to show up. Every gesture of protocol toward Tehran is a knife pointed at your own sovereignty. Call it diplomacy if you need the cover, but Hezbollah isn't fooled. They read courtesy as capitulation, and they will act accordingly.
