@steveschale Guy won’t go away. Without asking you to respond I assume these perennial candidates are just taking advantage of our weak campaign finance laws and extremely weak FEC. Or they’re selling something and want/need the publicity.
@pkcapitol@steveschale There is no reason for California, Arizona, and Nevada to count votes as slow as they do. Texas, NY, and Florida are large states and count fast (especially Florida). Arizona and Nevada are too small to count that damn slow.
James Carville on Graham Platner: “Maybe we need a combat veteran on that Senate who is fucked up. Who every time these assholes go to vote for another war, Susan Collins voted for all of them, maybe they need to look at this guy before they start sending young people off to fight wars and see what the consequence of it is”
@steveschale Honestly if you’ve (generally not you) been watching politics long enough this is a opo dump. Does it hurt him in the primary maybe. But after scales were moved for Hillary, Biden (I don’t think this), and Harris it’s hard to blame voters who say “I’m going my own way this time”.
@steveschale I think Brown was running regardless. I don’t have an issue with DC encouraging people to run. But coming in and putting their thumb on the scale or bullying others not to run isn’t cool. If this “the one” is the best choice they shouldn’t collapse under scrutiny or campaigning.
WaPo: Several of Michigan’s most notable Democrats recently jumped off the sidelines to endorse Stevens in an attempt to thwart El-Sayed’s surge.
Lon Johnson, a former chair of the Michigan Democratic Party and Stevens supporter, said, “There is real concern that Abdul would not be able to beat Rogers and then potentially lose us a majority possibility in the Senate.”

@steveschale I think people are better at picking their nominees than DC. DC forced Gideon on Maine in 20 and tried again with Mills. This person may have been a better choice but if DC keeps pushing voters they’ll eventually push back. It’s likely this Platner thing just has to play out.
@steveschale are you tracking this Iowa senate race? I like the progressive Wahls. But Turek is super compelling to me. Idk if it’s because he’s in a wheelchair like me and seeing him climb steps to campaign is pulling on my heart strings but I like him a lot.
Platner was already a risky candidate and the stuff this week doesn’t help. But I’d like to know where was this level of scrutiny with Coumo running for NYC mayor. I guess the “flaws” as Dana Bash put it were acceptable when they belonged to the candidate facing a progressive
Wow, the student journalist who won the Mike Wallace Memorial Scholarship at the News Emmys just called out CBS News.
"While I want to thank CBS News for funding this generous gift toward my education, I want to also acknowledge how the recent direction of the outlet stains the legacy of Mike Wallace, the name sake of this scholarship." (Applause and some surprise in the room)
1. Lead Left, a super PAC created on 4/24, purports to stand "against MAGA extremists."
It has spent $3M+ in Democratic primaries.
But it's funders and motivations have been secret.
Until now.
It's a GOP dirty tricks operation.
