Funny how Senator Thune’s staffer @RWrasse’s response is all about defeating a convention resolution instead of explaining why Senator Thune still hasn’t gotten the SAVE AMERICA Act across the finish line.

And let’s not pretend convention delegates are a perfect proxy for Republican voters across South Dakota, or across the country. Party conventions are made up of a subset of activists and delegates, not the entire Republican electorate. Even if every delegate had been present, which they weren’t, that wouldn’t settle the question of where the broader grassroots stands.

What’s embarrassing isn’t that a resolution failed. It’s that South Dakota Republicans have spent days making headlines over the @ScottPresler controversy, internal party dysfunction, and now Thune’s office staffers taking victory laps instead of talking about results that move the country forward.

As Communications Director, Ryan’s job should be explaining why his boss hasn’t delivered, not celebrating inner party procedural wins on X. South Dakota Republicans deserve better and so do the taxpayers who pay his and other Senate staff salaries.
