The AJK situation is a top example of mishandling and mismanagement. The PPP-N fighting it out politically is a sad side show at best and at worst a stupid attempt to create temporary distraction from the real issue. Media and information blackout has compounded the crisis. Never thought we would witness such a sorry state of affairs. Terrible.
Someone should be in jail for this...
"The audit pointed to a defective design by the consultant that compromised project safety standards in the 9th Avenue/ Jinnah Avenue interchange project. The Road Directorate North had awarded a consultancy contract to M/s NESPAK for the project. The audit observed that the underpass loop design features a critically sharp turn of approximately 45 degrees, with a solid concrete wall constructed directly in front of it. The design was for 30 km/ hour, in violation of the design speed of 60 km/ hour stated in the feasibility report. This feature violated basic transportation engineering principles, creates a significant safety hazard for vehicular movement, and reflects gross negligence and professional misconduct on the part of the design consultant."

Decades long ordeal of remote areas of Bahawalpur, D.G. Khan, Rahim Yar Khan and Khushab and adjoining districts comes to an end. Women, children and elderly would no longer have to take exhausting journeys under the scorching sun just to fetch drinking water. Alhamdulillah, in just 5 months, we have constructed four modern Water Bottling Plants each capable of producing 5,000 litres of clean drinking water every hour. Our delivery trucks will deliver it free of cost directly to the doorsteps of deserving families. This is more than a water project. It is dignity, relief and a promise fulfilled for the most underserved communities.

LUMS at 30: A Great University. But Great for Whom?
In 2027, it will be 30 years since the first @LifeAtLUMS undergraduate class graduated. A good moment to ask a serious question: what has LUMS delivered — not just for its graduates, but for Pakistan?
Elite institutions matter. Greece had the Lyceum. America has the Ivy League. France has École Polytechnique. Each earned its legitimacy by building its own society first: #Oxford shaped Britain's political class, #Harvard shaped America's legal and intellectual leadership, École Polytechnique trained France's scientific elite. That is the benchmark for #LUMS.
The test is not whether LUMS graduates are bright or globally employable. It is whether Pakistan has become more productive, better governed, more intellectually serious, and more competitive because of LUMS. By that standard, the scorecard is dismal.
LUMS has benefited students, families, faculty, donors — and foreign employers who gain access to high-quality Pakistani talent. Its degree has improved careers, incomes, and mobility. But has LUMS delivered for Pakistan at the level of its reputation — and at the cost of a PKR 6–7 million undergraduate degree?
A few questions its trustees, faculty, and alumni should ask honestly:
1⃣ What proportion of LUMS graduates are are working in Pakistani enterprises — not just joining MNCs, donor agencies, consulting firms, or moving abroad? Many local businesses have quietly stopped hiring LUMS graduates, finding them disconnected from local realities, low on loyalty or humility, and treating their companies as a waiting room for Riyadh, London, or Silicon Valley.
2⃣ LUMS's own data suggests around 20% of students leave for graduate school abroad within five years, and up to 10% take jobs abroad — nearly 30% of its top talent exported within a few years of graduation. Is LUMS an elite training ground for Pakistan — or a low-cost feeder school for the US and Saudi Arabia? Families and Pakistan pay the cost; the productivity accrues to #SiliconValley, Riyadh, London, or Toronto. At scale, this talent leakage debilitates the system.
3⃣ Is there sufficient number of Pakistani philosophers, institution builders, and intellectual leaders LUMS has produced. Who from its alumni is shaping Pakistan's moral, constitutional, or social direction?
4⃣ What world-class research or original theories in management, economics, governance, or social sciences has LUMS produced that has raised Pakistan's profile in global academia — or has it mostly produced credentials for mobility?
This is not an argument against LUMS. Pakistan needs elite universities. But they must be judged by national contribution — not by alumni salaries, foreign placements, or glossy donor stories.
If Pakistan's best-trained graduates leave, local enterprises weaken, public institutions remain mediocre, and students are trained to look down on the country they come from — what exactly is the "greater good" being created?
The next 30 years of LUMS can be different. It can remain academically excellent, globally connected, and elite — while being deeply invested in local enterprise, research, and leadership.
The right question is how many graduates reach McKinsey, Google, Dubai, London, or Harvard -and - whether an elite LUMS creates elite responsibility, not just elite mobility. Whether Pakistan is succeeding because of LUMS, or continuing to decline despite it.
After 30 years, LUMS should publish a Pakistan ROI dashboard.
