Valentine’s tip for devs 💌
Your players don’t just play, they connect.
Encourage moments where players:
• gift each other in-game items
• leave love notes / messages for others
• share cozy screenshots of their characters together
• reflect on stories or friendships formed in your world.
These little emotional touchpoints build retention, advocacy, and word-of-mouth.

Struggles are nothing to be ashamed of. 💡
What’s a challenge you’re facing in dev or creative work right now?

Here are a few common frustrations I’ve seen indie devs face, wondering if anyone else relates:
• Balancing dev + marketing
• Feature creep vs. deadlines
• Unsure if your updates actually engage players
• Feeling burnt out after long sprints.
@IronIntOfficial You’re not alone in feeling this way. Many devs face moments like this, though few share it openly. Admitting the struggle is the first step toward clarity and finding your next move.…Talking with peers or your community can make these moments easier to navigate.
This is the kind of detail players don’t verbalise, but absolutely feel.
Better rim lighting = better readability, depth, and visual comfort.
Micro clarity wins stack into smoother play, longer sessions, and higher retention.
Tiny visual tweaks like this quietly carry the whole experience.
I love to see it 👏👏👏
@shadesofsilver You know the destination you’re stuck on the path.
That’s a perfect moment to show 2 rough layouts and ask players which one feels better and why.
You break the block and turn iteration into community ownership.
Long term: massive trust and retention win.

I'm always interested in unique roles such as this, especially when they are niche down to a specific industry like gaming. When I started my Google course - on digital marketing and e-commerce, I was immediately hit with too many roles, I knew community management was one that I resonated with. Being in the space has been so enlightening and interested but challenging... I hope to someday tell a story as yours.
@PeterP_1985@rStardewValley@ConcernedApe It's so good that you are paying attention to her favourite things to do... and taking it a step further by planning and creating moments she will forever cherish
What a beautiful father–daughter moment.
And it’s the kind of UGC indie devs overlook, but absolutely shouldn’t.
Because moments like this sell games without you lifting a finger.
And there’s more UGC hiding in your community:
• sketchbooks, fan art, moodboards
• guides, walkthroughs, spreadsheets
• cozy screenshots + farm/house builds
• character micro-stories
• “this game got me through…” posts
• parents bonding with kids through your title
• cosplay + fan-made merch
• recreating your world inside other games
If you’re not collecting, reposting, and celebrating these…
you’re leaving retention, trust, and word-of-mouth on the table.

My 12 year old daughters absolute favourite game is Stardew Valley.
She has over 200 hours in the game, loves to talk to me about it, listens to the soundtrack and has started a Stardew sketchbook to draw stuff from the game.
She doesn't know yet...but I managed to get tickets to the Stardew Valley concert for next year in Glasgow, she is going be so damn excited! 😁
