The optics of this signing isn’t sitting right with me. Just last week we were talking about shopping our academy graduates around and now we are signing another 29-year-old. While I get the need to strengthen the backline due to injuries, couldn’t we have looked at a younger prospect? Especially given his price tag and knowing he’s definitely not playing when everyone is back fit. Maybe it’s just me being paranoid.

Arsenal fans, gather here: let’s reason. Are we ready now to have the uncomfortable conversation about Ethan Nwaneri’s future? I have closely watched the last two preseason games and his performances have left very little to be desired. He struggles to get into games and when he tries to force issues he ends up giving the ball away needlessly. He’s caught the bad habit of sideways and backwards passing, but even more annoying is him holding onto the ball too long when a quick pass would have either created a chance or unlocked the defense. Just last week I was adamant that he shouldn’t be sold at any cost, but having seen these last two games I am really not so sure. What are your thoughts?

Rashford is looking like a more feasible possibility this transfer window. It would be the most @Arsenal thing to do to go from Vinicius to Rashford. We’ve seen this movie so many times. Hope I’m wrong. #AFC #COYG

Am I disappointed? Of course I am. Am I disillusioned? Hell no. He would have been a tremendous addition but definitely not the end-all. We still have a terrific squad, and with a bit of ingenuity from Berta we can add something exciting to the left attack and we’ll be set for the new season. Good riddance……………

I've been seeing fan handles posting this dude as an @Arsenal alternative in the left-wing position. It's amazing that people who openly criticize suggestions of getting Marcus Rashford to cover that wing will openly advocate for this dude. Let's be clear: he isn't better than Tzolis, and in some ways he might even be a downgrade on Martinelli. He's not even fit to lace Rashford's boots. So let's stop this stupidity and look for a better alternative.
