Scunthorpe United has this evening allowed the East Car Park to be used as a water bottle distribution hub by Anglian Water, following the ongoing water supply issue affecting the town throughout the day.

This has inevitably resulted in a significant increase in traffic around our footprint and the surrounding areas, with some queues backing up for several miles.

At present, it is unclear how long the issue will remain in place and, consequently, how long the distribution hub will need to operate.

As a result, we will review the situation in the morning as to whether to open our ticket office and club shop on Friday. If the situation persists, closing will help to avoid adding any additional traffic to the area - with any ongoing queues likely to deter supporters from visiting us resulting in inevitable low footfall in any case.

First and foremost, we hope that all residents affected by the water supply issue are able to access the bottled water being made available.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during what is clearly a challenging situation for the town.
