Reynold’s realistic representation of gunviolence gives the reader an insight on how gun violence is a generational problem. Much gun violence is carried out in vengeance and it shows how many young people feel they don’t have a choice on whether they commit it or not. #engl20512

Goo dismantles stereotypes by not making the culture of the characters a centerpiece in their personality. She writes the characters as normal teenagers who have flaws and troubles that are not based on their culture. They are relatable because of their troubles and feelings.

The most interesting observation I’ve made about the book so far is that the author does not just focus on the culture of the main character. She focuses on the culture of all the characters and how it shapes their actions and beliefs. #engl20512
