1. The right to keep sovereign Ukrainian territory he has taken by violence and in breach of international law.

2. The right to control Ukraine’s destiny by forbidding Nato membership

3. The lifting of sanctions against Russia

4. An economic partnership with America.

5. The chance to rebuild his armed forces for the next attack in a few short years’ time.

As for Ukraine - what do they get after three years of heroic resistance against a brutal and unprovoked invasion? What is their reward for the appalling sacrifices they have made - for the sake, as they have endlessly been told, of freedom and democracy around the world?

Apart from the right to share their natural resources with the United States they get nothing.

What is there in this deal that can realistically stop a third Russian invasion? Nothing.

If we are to prevent more atrocities by Putin then we must have a long term, credible and above all properly funded security guarantee for Ukraine - a guarantee issued by the UK, the US and all western allies.

HOW EUROPEAN CHINA POLICY FAILED

Chinese troops just landed in Belarus for the joint exercise, July 8-19.

Belarus is a Russian puppet state, they practise attacking European NATO countries. Belarus also hosts Russian nuclear weapons aimed at NATO countries, Russian state often publicly threatens nuclear destruction of European nations.

So Chinese military is now part of these Russia-led strategic efforts to attack Europe. Yes, Chinese military is unlikely to directly attack European NATO nations, but it is clearly helping Russia in their preparations.

Yet, most EU national leaders continue the failed greedy policy pretending to be appeasement.

German, French, Hungarian or Polish leaders kneel to Chinese dictator and beg him for more contracts to increase European economic dependency on China while China directly (on a huge material scale) supports Russian destruction of Ukraine and Russian preparations for war with NATO countries.

Europe does this greedy polocy for many years and what is the result? China is helping Russia strategically to prepare for a war against Europe.

What else to call this policy than strategic stupidy?

China must be pressured hard, sanctioned hard for its support of Russian war crimes.

That is the only way how to at least try to prevent a global war - China must feel European strenght so it stops its path to global war (which Russia does the first phase of in Europe on Chinese behalf for now).

Appeasement always fails since dictators understand it as weakness.

Deterence is the only way forward but Europe does zero part of it for now.
