@mattkratter Thought I had this fixed previously on my StartOS machine (flashed StartOS to an old dell optiplex with updated SSD), but wanted to fix this before BIP-110 activates. Hopefully this helps some plebs get it ironed out. Claude walked me through all of it.

@mattkratter re: your video from a few days, i finally fixed my node not listening despite false signals that it was listening:
@mattkratter 4. After fixing: the Interfaces page has a built-in port Test button, or test with other node site to verify from outside. bitcoin-cli -netinfo 4 shows inbound peers per network — inbound Tor peers show up as "npr" from your internal gateway IP.
3. StartOS 0.4.0 gotchas: it changed my P2P port from 8333 to a custom one (check the service's Interfaces page), so my old router port-forward pointed at a dead port. It also wiped my onion service — had to Add Onion Service fresh. And if login fails with "RPC ERROR: Unauthorized" after updating, it's just your browser's cached client — hard refresh/incognito fixes it.
2. Re-check your CGNAT status once in a while. I built my whole setup around being CGNAT'd (Tor-only inbound). Turns out my ISP had quietly given me a real public IP at some point. Compare your router's WAN IP to whatismyip — if they match, you can do clearnet inbound and stop depending on Tor.
1. Diagnose first, don't guess. SSH in and run bitcoin-cli getnetworkinfo. If your only localaddress is a .onion, test it by having your node dial ITSELF: bitcoin-cli addnode "youronion:8333" "onetry" with net logging on. Mine returned "connection refused" — my Tor hidden service had been silently dead for weeks while happily advertising itself. The old debug.log showed the Tor daemon flaking repeatedly. No error anywhere in the UI.
@JwayToday@EricRSammons Also this. I think if Catholic schools and parishes were holding some of their funds in #Bitcoin over the long run they'd be able to mitigate inflation/rising costs.
Tweeting to timestamp for my future self that I've been running a Knots node for months and support BIP-110. Come what may.
