📊 Eye-opening data from Mr @MichaelGFadel on robotic #training reality:
🤖 >700 trainee responses reveal the gaps:
• Most have <10 robotic cases experience ‼️
• Training methods vary wildly 😟
• Only 40% have dedicated training lists access ⤵️
Top 5 Training Challenges:
1⃣ Lack of accredited trainers
2⃣ Lack of training lists
3⃣ Failure to progress
4⃣ Competition for training
5⃣ Cost of simulators/courses
Solutions needed: #Curriculum development, #mentorship programmes, #assessment tools.
ASiT x RaDiST Robotics for Trainees Conference | 21-22 July
PLENARY 1:
DAY 1 | 13:20-14:40 📍 The Current Landscape of Robotic Training
Meet the experts:
⚕️ Miss Nuha Yassin - Consultant Colorectal Surgeon. @RCSnews Council Lead for Future of Surgery & Robotics. UK's first female robotic colorectal proctor. FIRST early-years consultant to become a Council member.
🎯 Mr Josh Burke - NIHR ACL in #ColorectalSurgery. Former ASiT President & RCS Innovation Hub Director of #Education and #Training. Led "Future of Surgery" report, established RaDiST, invited panel member for NICE HTA assessment of soft tissue #robotics.
🔬 Mr Michael Fadel - NIHR Doctoral Fellow developing European robotic training consensus for GI surgery. EAES research grant recipient to define and standardise the essential elements of a #robotictraining curriculum.
🏥 Mr James Nicholson - Consultant leading Salford Royal's robotics and colorectal #cancer programme. Co-delivered trust's first robotic colorectal operations. Post-CCT fellowship in Australia for advanced #laparoscopic surgery and robotics.
