Very exciting to see the end of this blighted property and open an exciting development opportunity for Milwaukee.
Looking forward to seeing how this space is used to build a brighter future for the city!
After more than 20 years of dangerous blight on the northwest side of Milwaukee, the former Northridge Mall is no more.
✅ On time
✅ On budget
✅ Ready for the future
My thanks to our teams at the department of city development and department of neighborhood services, our contractors, unions, city residents working on this project, and Governor Tony Evers — who provided a monumental $15 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds awarded from former President @JoeBiden’s administration towards this effort.
Milwaukee, today is incredibly important.
If you’re in line, please make sure that you stay in line so that your vote and your voice is counted in this election.
If you haven’t yet voted, your local polling site is open until 8:00pm.
The Milwaukee Election Commission (MEC) unequivocally refutes Eric Hovde’s baseless claims regarding the integrity of our election process. Every aspect of the MEC’s operations was conducted with transparency and in strict adherence to established laws and procedures.
It is both expected and routine that absentee ballots—over 100,000 in this case—are counted and reported in the late hours of Election Night due to Wisconsin’s high voter turnout and the rigorous verification standards the MEC upholds.
Unlike states led by both Republicans and Democrats that permit absentee ballots to be processed ahead of Election Day, Wisconsin does not, which can result in the reporting of large numbers of absentee ballots late at night.
The state of Wisconsin proudly allows same-day voter registration, and this historic election saw record-breaking turnout as many newly registered voters exercised their right to support their preferred candidates. The MEC celebrates the dedication of Milwaukee residents to participate in the democratic process and is fully confident Mr. Hovde’s accusations lack any merit.
Milwaukee voters can rest assured: the MEC conducted a fair, accurate, and secure election that fully protects voter rights and preserves the democratic process.
For the first time in our country’s history, women like my wife Dominique, and girls like our six year twin daughters Madison and Bella, will be able to see a woman in the Oval Office.
It was great to hear Dominique’s reflection on @KamalaHarris’ extraordinary campaign where she will also just so happen make history by being the first woman elected to serve as president of United States.
Amazing news that Pres. Biden is announcing this in Milwaukee! Incredible visibility for a city on the rise that continues to make one strong policy decision after another.
Wagners’s comment reminds me of the Brewers proposal. The first offer is never the best one.
With the right vision, Northridge can be a catalyst for economic growth and reinvigorate the blighted property. Don’t settle for less because of expedience. It’s dumb.
The notion of some that the City of Milwaukee and its residents on the northwest side, who have dealt with a massive, blighted, unsafe eyesore and public safety nuisance for 20+ years, should immediately endorse the first proposal that comes along — even if it’s a low impact use like storage — without even considering other options is what is typical and clueless.
The northwest side deserves better than that and quite frankly, the entire city deserves better than that.
Reasonable folks can disagree about what ultimately happens there but after all of this time, we should at least seek out what could be instead of settling for something just because it was the first out of the gate to be announced.
Watching the #Bucks vs. 76ers reminds me when I gave Nick Nurse directions in 2019. It was during the ECF. He couldn’t find the arena.
In another world, I never gave him directions, he never found the arena, and the Bucks won a title in 2019…
