@EthanJago3 Pick an issue and you can find a person stirring up division loudly online, and it has had a massive impact on my small country church in rural Missouri. Pastoral distrust is at an all time high, and I think the mouthpieces of this convention are doing us no favors.
@EthanJago3 I feel the general tone for communication, at least online, among Baptists right now is name calling, assuming motives, and ultimately condemning brothers and sisters trying to follow Jesus faithfully as they see in scripture. It mirrors secular culture in an unflattering way.
@EthanJago3 That being said, I moved back to the SBC due to conviction (I was down the road from you on 30a at Good News), and my experience has been worrying to say the least. I’ve encountered some of the least charitable name calling people I’ve ever seen in my 20 years of ministry.
@Joseph_Spurgeon No matter how much love you have for the SBC, if you're no longer in the SBC, move along. You have no voice in to how we handle our internal business.
Before we can celebrate the resurrection we must reckon with the reality of the betrayal Jesus experienced. You cannot have the resurrection without death, and you cannot have death without surrender.
@kylebeshears@Methodist_Prime Modern Evangelicals: "we believe sola scriptura"
Peter: "...not as a removal of dirt from the body, but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ."
Modern Evangelicals: "yep, still sola scriptura."
@JakeRainwater Ha! Well, I’m serving a church in SW Missouri full of Chiefs and Royals fans so I completely understand. Nevertheless, go Braves, Roll Tide, and Who Dat.
