It isn’t often that as the JC’s political editor my jaw is left wide open and I’m aghast by what I’m reading.
But such was my astoundment at reading the lengthy exchange of emails between Greens for Palestine and Jewish Greens.
In the papers we’re publishing today, we detail the animosity the party’s Jewish group had to face for their objections to a motion that equated Zionism with racism.
The Jewish group asked for mediation with Greens for Palestine to find an acceptable solution to both; they were snubbed and a series of ridiculous, almost comical, demands were made of them. Only there is nothing funny about the situation.
These included that they liberate their minds from Zionism;
• “apologise” for the actions of the Israeli Embassy;
• “retract” press stories critical of the party with which they had no connection;
• “unequivocally condemn” the referral of members to counter-terror police.
The controversial “Zionism is Racism” motion could still be adopted by the party’s annual conference in October this year, re-opening many of these rows.
Zack Polanski’s party is facing calls to drop the motion.
The @JLC_uk is now urging the party to intervene.
A spokesperson told me: “Demanding that Jewish members ‘liberate’ themselves from Zionism before engaging in mediation demonstrates an ideological purity demanded of Jews by Greens for Palestine.
“If the Green Party really cares about antisemitism, their leadership should step in to stop the farce of this ‘Zionism is racism’ motion.”
One former Labour MP has even suggested that Britain’s equalities watchdog investigate the party.
“This angry diatribe from the Greens for Palestine group lays bare the way Jewish people who dare to stand their ground in so-called progressive movements are being aggressively intimidated by self-righteous pro Gaza activists.”
@LordWalney added: “The Green Party seems as badly infected by prejudice as the Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn - it is surely time for a formal investigation by the Equality and Human Rights Commission.”
The property event in London promoting developments in Northern Cyprus has come and gone.
No outrage. No protests. No statements from MPs.
The double standard couldn't be clearer.
Fans of Palestine Action are going one step further legally than holding a placard. Now they’re saying they’re MEMBERS of the banned group and encouraging others to join. This is a significantly more serious offence and they’re ruining their lives for nothing. Moronic.
@bariweiss@MaxNordau@DouglasKMurray@TheFP Brilliant news, Bari. Douglas is a one of the best commentators around on the hypocrisies and sad decline of the West - and what we can all do about it were we to only try. A Top Mensch, too! 🇬🇧🇮🇱🇺🇸
Statement from Stop The Hate UK
The events in Edgware should concern anyone who values public order and community cohesion.
A lawful event held at a synagogue became the focus of a protest that resulted in confrontation and arrests. That alone ought to prompt a serious conversation. Why are demonstrations organised under the banner of Palestine so often accompanied by intimidation, disorder, or violence?
If the aim was to influence British foreign policy or draw attention to Gaza, there were countless places to protest. Parliament. Whitehall. An embassy. Instead, activists descended on a synagogue in the middle of a Jewish neighbourhood.
That was a choice.
We are repeatedly told these demonstrations are directed at Israel, not Jews. Yet Jewish schools require extra security, Jewish businesses are targeted, Jewish cultural events are disrupted, and Jewish places of worship become protest sites. The distinction becomes increasingly difficult to sustain.
Equally troubling is the role played by those who fuel these campaigns with contested allegations before the facts are established. Public officials have a duty to exercise restraint, not add their voice to narratives that inflame tensions and place local communities under unnecessary pressure.
The Mayor of London should explain why rhetoric surrounding this event was allowed to escalate in a way that cast suspicion over a lawful gathering and contributed to an atmosphere of hostility. Political leaders should unite communities, not deepen divisions.
Surrounding synagogues and targeting Jewish communal life does nothing to advance peace in the Middle East. It simply sends a message to British Jews that they will be held collectively responsible for events thousands of miles away.
That is unacceptable.
Stop The Hate UK stands firmly behind the right of every community to meet, worship and organise without fear of harassment. London cannot claim to be a city of tolerance while Jewish institutions are treated as legitimate targets for political anger.
"If you stand alongside people who say globalise the intifada, you are calling for terrorism against Jews - and people who use that phrase should be prosecuted. It is racism, extreme racism."
- Keir Starmer. Here you go, Keir. Woolwich Crown Court, this evening.
These thugs fractured the spine of Sgt Kate Evans, who spoke in court of the medical and emotional trauma she still lives with.
Prison is where they belong.
Unlike Zack Polanski, I want serious consequences for anyone who attacks police officers risking their lives to protect us.
The Movement Against Antizionism (MAAZ) stands in solidarity with actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who is currently the target of a racist antizionist harassment campaign, marking Paltrow as a "Zionist" based on her Jewish identity and connection to Israel.

Brilliant news! Trevor is an excellent, veteran journalist and commentator who is well known in the UK for fearlessly telling it like it is - and a top mensch too! Well done, Bari!
@KarenPollock100 We went and were privileged during our to meet the amazing Yael, talk to her and offer what words of support we could to someone who has been through so much - just 21 at the time. So important to go - please do try.
Today, we woke to the sickening scenes of a Sudanese man attempting to behead another man on the streets of Belfast.
In the aftermath, we’ve seen the all-too-familiar damage-control operation from the authorities.
People are being urged not to share the footage or comment on the incident because it may cause division, distress the family, or fuel the “far right”.
In a democratic society, people have the right to share footage of events that take place in public and to discuss why such horrific acts keep happening in our country.

🇮🇱 Gwyneth Paltrow is the face of a new luxury housing development in Israel
The Hollywood star turned lifestyle guru appears in a slick one-minute marketing video advertising 51Park, a flagship luxury apartment complex in the affluent Israeli city of Herzliya. Set across two towers in the city, it is located on the Mediterranean coastline, about 10 miles north of Tel Aviv.

I see suspended Green councillor Mark Adderley is posing with the rest of the party as he takes up his seat. I guess they’re not embarrassed or ashamed to stand with him after his antisemitic posts. Shame on them.
Er what?
Jewish children in Australia already attend school under the protection of armed guards.
This is because of Islamic terrorism.
Of all political parties, One Nation has perhaps warned about this danger the loudest.
It certainly wasn't under a One Nation government that a 10 year old Jewish child was shot in an Islamic terrorist attack at Bondi Beach.
