After a tour in the US, Chris MacDonald Barker came back to the RAF and onto the Tornado where he served as the deputy boss of 27 Squadron and OC Operations Wing at Brüggen. During this time he had the opportunity to fire a sidewinder from the Tornado GR1.

Gloster Javelin
twin-engined all-weather interceptor aircraft designed and produced by the Gloster Aircraft Company. It was operated by the Royal Air Force from the mid-1950s until the late 1960s and was the final aircraft design to bear the Gloster name.
Westland Wyvern. British carrier-based multi-role strike aircraft built by Westland Aircraft served 1950s, seeing service in 1956 Suez Crisis. Wyverns were powered by turboprop engine driving large distinctive contra-rotating propellers, and could carry aerial torpedoes.
